I was offered the shingles vaccine when I had a flu jab 3 years ago. The nurse warned me not to have it if I had anything planned in the following few days as it could have side effects being a live vaccine. As I was just about to start my 100 miles in the month walk I decided against it.

It got a bit wild an hour ago, we had a gust of 58mph which rattled a few things but I don't think there is any damage to report. It has died down again now. I battened down the hatches last night in readiness. (I would have lowered the keel as well if we had one.)

Trawden Show was enjoyable and not too hot as there was a bit of a breeze up there on the hill. It was probably more than a bit uncomfortable if you had to spend all day in one of the marquees, we were glad to get outside after looking round the art & craft tents. It was good to see the poultry ...

I've got a pan of runner bean chutney on the boil. No matter how few beans I plant there is always a glut! My annual batch of chutney keeps me going through the year, but it doesn't half make the house stink.
