Attached Stanley is an article from the Middleton Guardian on mill smoke nuisances concerning three local Middleton companies being brought before the local magistrate, one being Messrs. Schwabes Ltd, Rhodes, Middleton, from Saturday 17th September 1910. They might be of interest.

Confirmation in the BET this morning that planning permission has been applied for to demolish the chimney at Junction 12 shopping complex.

Baitings Mill at Norden. Probably one of the worst maintained stacks I ever came across. Plenty of work done on it but all of it terrible quality.

The better the tackle, the easier the job. N&R bought this Liebherr 952 in late 1984 for the demolition of Ellenroad. Here it is in 1987 working at Rishton. A big useful tool in Big John's hands!

Left to right: Graham Riley, my manager, Geoff Smith, brass-founder from Keighley, Newton Pickles, Mary and I can't remember who the lad was. In Ellenroad engine house after running it for Coates in 1987. It had been a stressful and very busy day but a success. Main reason for this pic is Geoff. One of the biggest problems connected with repairing steam engines these days is finding a founder who understands bearing bronzes. It's a technology that has largely been lost, Geoff is dead and Dick Bonser has retired so I don't know where I would go today.

Stanley,laddering is still done more or less the same way,eye bolts have replaced dogs though,and you have to be clipped on at all times..
the video is not my work,it was Jobsworth i wont tell you his real name he loves being under-cover haha,i think the video is a tongue in cheek view of the term "master steeplejack"...
