Susan tells ne she is much better this morning. Hoarseness is her main symptom now.....

We both feel a lot better today although Sally says she still feels a bit weak in her legs. We slept a lot better and it looks like the Paracetamol and fluids have done the trick. Not quite as bad as the first Phizer booster and not as long in recovery. We need our flu jabs now.

We're having our Covid jabs tomorrow afternoon and flu jabs on Saturday morning. I'll report back!

We're both booked in at Barnoldswick, for flu jabs, on October 15th. We're going to check out the walk in Covid Vac Centre in Burnley early next week. We're out this weekend so didn't want to take the chance of a reaction until after.

Well Pharmacy in Barlick are booking Covid booster jabs this morning.

I saw a report yesterday that Covid levels are rising again......
It's a mistake to think it's gone away but that's how many are behaving.

Both myself and Mrs P had our covid booster on wednesday. Nothing to report other than the usual tenderness at the injection point.
This was followed by the influenza vaccination yesterday friday. Slightly more tender than the covid but nothing to brag about.
Both fireproof for the next few months we hope.

I did the same Ken and had both on succeeding days. Thought I was OK but after about three days I had a variety of small ailments and even now after they have gone away I have no idea if they were vaccination related, but it did cross my mind.....
I hope you and Herindoors prove me wromg!
(The only thing we can be certain about is that the Flu Strains they are targetting this year are the same ones that attacked Australia and they were reckoned to be as bad as anything they have had recently. If we get protection from them it will be worth it. I also note that they are talking about this bout of Covid being more dangerous for the over 70s. I qualify for that! Deep Joy.)

We had the Covid vaccination on Thursday and the influenza one yesterday (Saturday). Nothing to report for the Covid one except the usual slight tenderness of the upper arm due to the physical effect of the needle on the deltoid muscle (I only know that name because I asked the doctor yesterday!). Nothing after yesterday's flu jab except the arm on the other side* now tender, and this morning Mrs Tiz complains of some weariness.

(They do the two jabs in the opposite arms and keep a record of it in case you report any side effects (inflammation, spots etc). They then know which vaccine caused the side effect.)

Well I've just buggered the system up then. Asked for it the same arm. "There should be a tiny hole which you can use again". Met with ironic laughter. The spare arm has torn muscles bad enough without them poking holes in them.

My pal walked into the Walk in Centre in Charter Walk Burnley. "Can I have a covid booster?" ... 'Have you booked ? ... "NO"... 'You must book first..."But isn't this a walk in centre?".... Yes, Only if you book first.

We've had almost no noticeable side effects from either the Covid jab (Thursday) or the influenza jab (Saturday). Some tenderness in the upper arm but that's normal. Mrs Tiz felt weary on Sunday morning but got better later in the day. Her tender arm from the flu jab has lasted longer than mine. Overall, it's a very small price to pay for protection from the serious consequences of these viruses.

Our good friend Ray, aged about 80, was fit and well and enjoying golf but some years ago he got flu-like symptoms, they got worse, he was taken into hospital, it turned into pneumonia and he died - all within a few days of the first signs of illness. The pneumonia vaccine hadn't been introduced for general prevention in the population at that time - if it had, and he'd accepted it then he would probably still be enjoying golf now, bless him.

I can only presume your pal caught them on a bad day.
We were asked if we had an appointment at the Burnley Walk in. As we didn't we were directed to the 'walk in' queue. All sorted within 10 minutes.
A much better experience than the 'walk in' blood test at Burnley General Hospital, the sample had to be taken between 08:00 and 11:00; I turned up just before 10:00 and couldn't find anywhere to park. I'll try again at 08:00 tomorrow.

I managed to book a slot on the NHS app link / website. should be possible to get a same day one poss at a pharmacy if walk ins dont have space.

Kev, Susan got to see the doc yesterday and the problem was her old enemy an ear infection not Covid. She's on the right ABs now so there is hope.....

Slight ache in my shoulder but no other side effects to report, so far, after yesterday's seasonal booster
