And congrats from me as well Sue. I hope your throat gets better quickly.....
Only one image this morning and it's the one I have been looking for. Three Stuart No. 9 engine crankshafts, all dimensionally correct but still needing polishing. Also, job done right, the lathe has been cleaned. Now for breakfast.

I'm happy for all of you but can't compete in that department...
I shall be in the shed this morning getting set up for a bit of surprise activity. I want to take a diversion and build a couple of wobbler engines.... The main event after second sleep is to exercise my democratic right by voting and then call in at the Co-op for a couple of bits and pieces.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Morning all and thanks for the best wishes. We spent the day stripping wallpaper ! We shall go out for a meal on Sunday to celebrate.
So thats it for yesterday. It was a long haul. It took ages to get the wallpaper off the kitchen walls. We had put some of it on and that came off easily but the other, which covered most of the kitchen was put on by the previous owners a very long time ago . That wallpaper I swear had been put on with superglue. Last visit we found that the best approach was to soak several times with a hand held water spray as the steam wallpaper stripper did nothing. Then it was scrape, scrape, scrape. At least it is now all off. Today we will fill holes ( as sometimes the surface of the plaster board came off as well) and then coat with a special sealant. I may get one door frame glossed too. There are 4 doors into the dining area of the kitchen and I did three frames last visit. I am doing the other side of the frames too to freshen up the rooms going off the kitchen. The doors can wait till next visit. We hope to get the walls emulsioned this visit
Today is our last dry day till Monday so I want to uncover a small strip of soil on my veggie plot and plant some tomato plants I bought at Lidl on the way from the ferry. Hopefully I will be able to get some more veggie plants from the market on Saturday , otherwise there will be nothing grown this year. I have never been successful planting seeds as they all get eaten.
Have a good day all.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
So you didn't have a relaxing day but crashed on with decorating! How is your throat? I hope it's getting better.
This morning was a visit of small things. First I took the 4 jaw independent chuck off and replaced it with the four jaw SC chuck. Then I oiled Mrs Harrison, she needed it! Next I tidied up all three crankshafts, breaking all the edges and taking them closer to their finished state. They are going to be sat on the kitchen table for a long time and I want them to be nice to look at! Then I completely re-sharpened my HSS cutter and checked it for centre.
Next I put the castings for the current No 9 engine safely out of the way and extracted the parts for two wobblers from their packaging. I am going to make these two engines so that Margaret can take at least one back to Oz as a present for my great grandson Alex. I shall consult but I don't see why Evie, my new great grand daughter can't have an engine as well! Now for breakfast.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Its not as sore, the voice is still croaky and I have developed a nasty cough. I have slept well for two nights which has helped. Yes must crack on with the decorating. The dining kitchen is the main entrance into the house so massive disruption with furniture everywhere, shelves emptied etc. At least I have space to cook

Well, that was a surprise, the Co-op have no milk. That must be the first time that has ever happened to a Co-op store. My vote went well and I have got my apples. Luckily I wasn't completely out of milk.....

I shall be in the shed at 06:00 and in the Co-op at 07:00 for some milk. Apart from that I hope to be gloating over a Tory defeat in the elections.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Morning
No decorating yesterday, it was a nice day. Bob did what he had to do with filler and then we both went out in the garden. I planted my tomatoes and put up my usual support frame , then I tackled the rhubarb patch. At least it is now uncovered there being several 3 foot thistles amongst the plants. Its not clear but at least the rain can now get to the soil rather than landing on vegetation.
In the afternoon I tried to weed the rockery which was worse. Feeling a bit groggy I soon went inside. At the same time Joanne and Paul arrived and stayed a couple of hours chatting over a large pot of tea. I have lent Joanne one of my sewing machines as hers is broken and a repair is taking forever. She is going to collect it from the repairer here and I will take it to a reliable little shop in Rochdale. They left in time for us to tidy up the gardening stuff and have a shower before Yves and Laetitia came round for a beer. It was Laetitia's birthday.
This morning we will be shopping, hopefully enough to see us through to next Wednesday
Then the rain arrives so its back to the decorating.
Have a good day all

Interestingly Labour lost control in Oldham, keep control in Rochdale but there are some very interesting non labour results like Norden and Bamford going to George Galloways party. .

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Morning Sue.... As usual nothing is clear and everyone is promoting their side of the story. All I am sure of is that it's a bad weekend for the Tories! The most important thing on my mind was whether the Coop would have milk! (They Did....)
I started on the two wobblers this morning. I've brought a complete example out to remind myself of the mistakes I have made before. I have started with the castings for the two main elements of the engines and ground all the faces square to each other. Then drilled the base for the two 4BA bolts that will fasten both to the baseplate. Last I went into my boxes and found four 4BA set screws for when I need them.
Then I went to the Co-op for my milk and now I'm about to have breakfast. All is well!
