Re: LIGHTS IN THE SKY
Sorry Stanley, didn't have a key for the leccy box at the bottom of Frank Street when I went up town yesterday... all being well, will sort today.
A small blue cone on Fernlea lampost needs sorting, but beyond my competence level.
Barnoldswick's sphere of seasonal radiation will be extended this week, with some of the natural needle shedders winging their way to the Dog and Keys.

Re: LIGHTS IN THE SKY
I noted they were both in full operation at dinnertime... Mrs Trelliss was in touch yesterday and says that it is her impression that the Xmas selling campaign is stronger this year probably due to the recession hitting the High Street. She let slip the fact that the detector is once more operating from Beamsley Beacon (she mentioned that due to cut-backs on the estate she had not seen any gamekeepers this year). This suggests to me that Beamsley Bob is involved again. No news of Boris, the rumour is that when he was released back into the community after his recent contretemps with a parking warden he went into retreat again.

Re: LIGHTS IN THE SKY
According to my 3 year old granddaughter there was one in the tent on the town square on Saturday. It was busy chucking the young lads of Barlick off it's back, bucking up and down and turning round and round. It was noticed whilst waiting to see the coca cola guy when Isla asked if she could have a go on the camel!. Maybe we should have put a thicker layer of foil in her hat, we were very close to one of the large emitters.

Re: LIGHTS IN THE SKY
Ian, no camels were used for the Reindeer Rodeo... (I didn't think it looked a very convincing reindeer either!)
Interestingly, the donkeys are off to a small zoo tomorrow which has real reindeer and camels.
Perhaps if camels had a less feisty reputation, we could get some for the event next year?

Re: LIGHTS IN THE SKY
If Ian mistook the Reindeer for a camel this could be due to the radiation. Doubtful if foil would make any difference at that short range.

We are under full attack now Moh. The word 'festive' gets its annual outing. No sightings of lights in the sky, far too much cloud about. I wonder if the camels are getting foot rot this year?

Re: LIGHTS IN THE SKY
I've had a bit of a lapse, been wearing my woolly hat again instead of one with a bit of protection. I made a Christmas Cake yesterday....and even had a few sips of cooking brandy. Back on track today though and I am going to wrap the cake tightly in a few layers of foil and hide it away........

Re: LIGHTS IN THE SKY
News from Mrs Trelliss. The sky is clearing and the detector is giving results at last on the progress of the light in the sky. She says that as far as can be ascertained it is on schedule and course for Bethlehem. No reports of camels or itinerant Wise Men as yet but she is in touch with her correspondents. Some interference has been noted in the area of Trawden. We had reports in earlier years of activity there, the suspicion was that it was a distribution centre for Xmas presents and that someone was test flying a large object. No reports as yet of vertically challenged workers round there.

Re: LIGHTS IN THE SKY
They have a meeting every Friday in the Community Centre - hubby infriltrated it last Friday but had nothing to report. There was an orange light hovering over Hambledon last night for quite a While - the sky is very clear at the moment (lovely view of the moon & jupiter last night).

Re: LIGHTS IN THE SKY
Mrs Trellis reports clear skies and the Light in the Sky is on track for Bethlehem. All emitters in Barlick are on 24/7 except the small, ones on the lamp posts. C-op have paid Xmas divi. Nice to have confirmation of Trawden activity. I have received reports of an incident at Gawthorpe Hall where a UFO hit the roof of the tithe barn, am investigating.

Re: LIGHTS IN THE SKY
Yesterday was 'MegaMonday' , the peak of online Xmas shopping. We can expect the pace to pick up from now on. People stocking up on Xmas food with a sell-by date before the day arrives. Must check my stocks of flour, oatmeal and dried peas..... Check the foil in your hats and don't succumb to to panic!

We went shopping yesterday for a few bits about 4pm wasn't to bad, bought a few odds and sods for Christmas but nothing that won't last until after. Don't buy much different to a normal shop, except the odd bottle of Sherry for visitors. Never aquired the taste for it myself. Eileen

Re: LIGHTS IN THE SKY
I am ashamed to say that I succumbed to the Xmas panic yesterday and bought myself a present. I've spent £50 on the le Carre books I haven't got. Sackcloth and ashes are in order I think. I was indoors and not wearing the foil-lined beanie!

Re: LIGHTS IN THE SKY
Mrs Trelliss is not as forthcoming as she has been in previous years. I suspect that if she's shacked up with Boris she has other things on her mind....
Noticeable that the number of cars in the town increases as Der Tag approaches. My thoughts go out to young families balancing diminishing budgets.
