Who has a Great Barlick Garden?
Barnoldswick in Bloom has an Awards event in early September where there's a celebration for people who help create our colourful Barnoldswick street scene with their lovely gardens, business displays, attractive neighbourhoods or community gardens.
Anyone can nominate such locations. You can make the nominations in this topic, or submit paper based suggestions by following the link listed on the Barnoldswick in Bloom page HERE.
I'm currently taking pictures of people's gardens as they look from the street and will post pictures on here from time to time. Please feel free to join in!
Just to get you going, here's one of the new wildflower areas on the Town Green.

How lovely...hope to see many more pics.
Come on gardeners! Even a well planted pot can look simply delightful...

It's been such a wonderful growing year that everything is looking good. Even the nettles in Valley Gardens!

Wave of Nostalgia on Rainhall Road. Brightening up an otherwise bland gable end.

This tiny front garden on Rainhall Road has a stunning display.
Remember, you can nominate Great Barlick Gardens by emailing barnoldswickinbloom@gmail.com or just post here.
Re: Who has a Great Barlick Garden?
Apart from the roses I am looking to clear my front yard, I'm not a gardener and am going to use the flags from the original kitchen floor for a bit of hard landscaping. If anyone wants some plants let me know

Re: Who has a Great Barlick Garden?
Kev, if you have anything perennial that would fill a small space drop it in my front garden and I'll give it a good home. Only a couple of plants....

Here's another Great Barlick Garden which you can glimpse off Rainhall Road. It's across the side street from the last one. There's a good view off Ellis Street of this one.

Just lovely...somewhere to sit with a pot of tea and the ipad, and enjoy a bit 'o sunshine.

Re: Who has a Great Barlick Garden?
My garden is modest and you have to look hard to find the flowers but in it's favour it is weed free, full of useful herbs and almost maintenance free. It's also the only garden on the row now since the council paved most of them during the big refurb. I insisted on keeping my stone flags and pocket handkerchief of garden, never regretted it!

Looking around, many people manage to make quite a lot out of their pocket gardens.

Re: Who has a Great Barlick Garden?
Our front garden is about 80% fruit and veg now. Part of tea last night was new Vivaldi spuds and mange tout, from plant to plate in less than half an hour. Back yard is the sun trap and has the majority of flowers although interspersed with tomato, courgette, rhubarb more peas and sundry herb plants, probably missed some, I'm not the gardener, I just lift, shift and build things when required.

Re: Who has a Great Barlick Garden?
This is one of our neighbours gardens :
Most of the row have built conservatories or flagged over the garden in front of the house as seen in the foreground.
We probably have the second best garden on the row :
Mainly on account ot the magnificant hydrangea bush (amazing what 30 years of neglect creates). Mainly paved over but we left some of it in place, now home to my granddaugters toys. We aren't gardeners at all, but we have 'a man' come in periodically to keep it presentable.

The town's hydrangeas look very good just now.
Re: Who has a Great Barlick Garden?
Loving these gardens, lovely bursts of colour.
I know I'm in my own little world, but it's OK... they know me here.
