Millstone manually operated grinder
Manually operated millstone grinder on display in the heritage garden next to the Bacup NAT Museum on Todmorden Road, Bacup, Lancashire. Quite a rare find I think because I don't think there are many like this left. Notice the long wooden beam going through the centre of the massive 3 ton millstone. In reality the millstone was used to crush stones into sand for putting onto floors before the days of carpets and lino, and not as some people think crushing corn. Would be nice to see it in operation.
