Re: HOUSEHOLD TIPS NOT FOUND IN WOMAN'S WEEKLY

I wear shorts for about 7 months of the year ( well above the knee but not so short that my backside is hanging out). I have no intention of ever feeling too old for shorts.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?

There is a lot less traffic now the Easter tourists have gone home. It is still School Holidays though, so some holiday makers linger, along with their city germs. So we still keep clear of the shops this week... :biggrin2: Flu injections are available from the end of this month. Hubby fulfills crit...

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...

Did a bit of gardening today. Baby steps...only about 45 mins and most of that was fertilising my potted plants and trimming straggly bits. Would like to have done more as it is a lovely sunny day, but let's see what "pay back" I get from this morning's lot. We went for one of our longer walks this ...

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...

Back from our walk, which was dry despite fairly constant drizzle this morning. Carried the walking stick but didn't need it. My gait still isn't perfect - I tend to lapse into bad habits if I try to walk fast. The town is packed with Easter tourists. We stay as far from the madding crowd as possibl...

Re: HOUSEHOLD TIPS NOT FOUND IN WOMAN'S WEEKLY

I tried all sorts of ways to get out of bed before my op. None of them were pain free. I dreaded getting out of bed. I couldn't even sit up for a cup of tea. It was a case of laying flat, or forcing myself upright. Even now, almost 2 weeks post op, I have to sit on the side of the bed to have the mo...

Re: HOUSEHOLD TIPS NOT FOUND IN WOMAN'S WEEKLY

I have a bath every morning. I love it - I plan my day in the bath. ( and easier to get in to and sit down now I have had my back surgery. it was hell before...had to make sure my pain relief was coordinated to the precise moment) Yes..agreed...flip onto your tummy and rise from your knees, with a g...

Re: MEDICAL MATTERS

Now you can get back into the shed, dear boy. I'm plodding on ok. I'm still not as comfortable as I would like to be, especially at night, but I am off all medication now and have decided to carry on in that manner. Another few days, and hopefully the discomfort will ease. When I think back to how b...

I had one male nurse and the rest were female. I didn't educate anyone! I tried to keep between the lines and under the radar in order to get out of there as quick as I could!

Re: MEDICAL MATTERS

Best of luck with the anaesthetic tomorrow too. It was the only bit I truly worried about. I said this to the anaesthetist ( lovely chap...held my hand...said all the right things...but still I shook under warm blankets). He said only one in a thousand anaesthetics go wrong. Or was that one in ten t...

Re: MEDICAL MATTERS

Barbed Wire covers it pretty well! (Hence the Lanolin) I have given up all painkillers beyond Paracetamol and Iboprofen now. But I do reserve the right to review that during the wee small hours if my barbed wire really annoys! Better to get some sleep than lay awake wanting to remove my own barbed w...

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...

Well I thought I would be OK, as I had just hopped out of a warm bath. Not so. I don't dare stretch. Horrible thoughts of un-name able things going 'ping' in unspeakable places. :laugh5: ( and you must never say the word TWIST to a spinal patient, Stanley. Surgeon threatens death if you dare twist! ...

...never say never... I seem to be doing ok today. I'm trying not to jinx it though... I can't wait until this sub cutaneous suture pops itself though as it is as tight as tight - not helped by they egg shaped dome of swelling putting pressure from underneath it. I've been rubbing Lanolin on to try ...

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...

:extrawink: I will attend wine tasting with you, but you can forget the rest. Having a "mixed bag" of a day with pain. I took a wrong step in the bathroom this morning and yelped. Have been paying for it since...and it is such a shame...because I woke up this morning feeling wonderful. It didn't hel...

Re: MEDICAL MATTERS

A bit of a sore start, Stanley. Eventually I managed to get that down to a more tolerable level. I note there is a lot of bruising present on the back now.
We have been for our walk and I managed the full course. It's a lovely sunny day, though a slightly brisk wind.

Re: MEDICAL MATTERS

You can probably relate to what I am going to say next, Panbiker. When the physio first visited me after the op, I was out of bed and walking about without my stick ( feeling ever so smug). She took me for a walk around hospital corridors, pointing out aspects of my incorrect gait. I had got into ba...

Well if you have lost your pyjama bottoms and have a pain in the bum...ones mind can only boggle at what you could have possibly done with them Stanley!
I have some pyjamas you can borrow. Freshly laundered. ( I expect them back the same way)

Well I won't be going out dancing tonight, but I am well and truly on the mend now. I feel good and have no pain beyond a mild ache...no need for painkillers. ( hopefully my bowels will come to life again now! I seem to have lost all contact with them since they started stuffing me full of painkille...

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?

I've made us a Vegetable Bake for tea, to have with Fish.
Another thing lacking in a hospital diet...veg!
I also noticed, I wasn't once offered an option of fresh fruit.
