He also told me where I could see baby turtles crossing the road.
Hey Wendy! Maybe he was a "Cereal Killer" trying to lure me to a remote spot! :laugh5:
( Australia is famous for Serial Killers. My veg and I could have ended up rotting together in a ditch somewhere)

Re: HOUSEHOLD TIPS NOT FOUND IN WOMAN'S WEEKLY

We were thousands of kilometres from home and hubby was sat in the rental car outside the supermarket, fiddling with the Satnav. I had just ducked in for some salad veg for tea. Maybe the sight of my windswept self, holding a cucumber, tomatoes, red capsicum and lettuce, made me look as though I nee...

Re: HOUSEHOLD TIPS NOT FOUND IN WOMAN'S WEEKLY

I was standing in the supermarket queue yesterday, when the man in front of me got a bit chatty ( don't know if he was trying to chat me up!). Anyway, he gave me a tip about storing fruit and veg in the fridge. I haven't tried it but he seemed convinced it kept things fresh for longer, so I shall pa...

Re: HOUSEHOLD TIPS NOT FOUND IN WOMAN'S WEEKLY

I wipe mine out every week, Stanley...unless I notice something has splattered a bit before then, and I attend to it immediately.
But that's just me. The kids think I am weird...but I have seen the inside of their microwaves and would classify them as disgusting.

Re: CHILDHOOD MEMORIES

That is a good name, Wendy.
One of my step children has Alexander as a middle name..( again, the Scottish heritage I think, though I have never asked his Dad.)

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS

Do you put your String in it? Actually, I would go so far as to suggest string inside, and pulled out the hole. You could stick your pen in the top hole, as it would sit inside the string, and you could throw your paper clips on too ( they would grasp magnetically). Have I won the holiday or the car...

Re: CHILDHOOD MEMORIES

And the WEIRDEST thing is that I always had the name David picked out as a younger brother for our Mark. That never happened, sadly, but who should I meet as my next husband...David! Life is strange. I was always meant to have a David...and I got one! I do feel he was heaven sent. Names have always ...

Re: CHILDHOOD MEMORIES

My first husband ( father of my only child) had the middle name of Mark. He had always wished that Mark was his first name. So we called our boy Mark as it was his Dad's wish. Mark means " strong and warlike", which is a lot to imagine in a newborn weighing 6lb 4ozs. So I got to choose the middle na...

Re: CHILDHOOD MEMORIES

Here we go again?!
The poor boy was forced to wear a "pee cap".
How cruel...
And how terribly sad for F.A.G. as well ( having two afflictions presumably - the pee cap and those initial emblazoned on his satchel. )

:cool4: I wonder if he had a sister called Henrietta Anne?!

Re: CHILDHOOD MEMORIES

Poor Plaques became collateral damage...accused of a privileged childhood he may or may not have had. (Apologies!) Not even little Prince George had an umbrella on first day of school. And I have to say, any wee lad turning up with an umbrella on his first day at an Aussie school would suffer a few ...

Re: CHILDHOOD MEMORIES

Comedy of errors!
I get it now. Tizzy had a picture of an umbrella to identify where to hang his coat, where to hitch his minature pony, and where the chauffeur was to meet him for after school pickup.
Phew...glad we finally worked that out.
( poor Wendy was almost sat in a puddle of her own making)

Plaques...you must have been privileged to own an umbrella in infant school... ( I mean...that's like owning a minature pony or something)

I keep telling my son that. He has been working overtime to recoup costs of dear dog's second knee op.

Re: PET'S CORNER

I know exactly what you are saying. Vets are so damn expensive! ( it puts me off future pet ownership). We always said that our old vet put his kids thru private school and orthodontic treatment whilst treating our dog, and we noticed he could afford a big neon sign after putting her down. Can't aff...

Excuse the pun, but I will pass...
Sweet and Sour Chicken for us tonight. I make my own Sweet and Sour Sauce, and it only contains half a teaspoon of Sugar.
