Re: FORGOTTEN CORNERS

What always amazes me is the abundance of old settlements littered down the moor from Elslack res into Elslack and Carleton. Tie into that the "Roman Road" and a couple of old forts, it strikes me as quite an important little bit in its time. https://thejournalofantiquities.com/2016/03/17/...

Re: FORGOTTEN CORNERS

Following on from the lidar mapping I've been doing, it has been suggested that I link to it a Wikipedia clone to store information in.

Might be worth a look? wiki.ogfb?

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...

After meeting a member of the local history group I now have a copy of Carleton & Lothersdale tithe map and the apportionment that goes with it. I've taken a look at both and have decided to get the apportionment into a state that can be imported into a sql database. Then I can sort the tables a...

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...

Having this afternoon off as I've ended up working the past 3 weeks without a day off. Meeting with a member of the local history group later to get a copy of the tithe maps so I can transpose them onto a modern day map along with all of the Historic England records. Should be fun!

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?

Lidar... Now I'm settled back in the spiritual home of Carleton, brain is finally untwisted and the dogs are happy mutts. I've decided to do something useful with my time instead of getting the local community groups backs up with saying what everyone is thinking but too damned scared to. Also threa...

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?

Well, I aint posted in a while due to many reasons. The biggest one is after being married in May last year, it turns out that wife wasnt quite happy after the £20k party and she had an affair no less than 20 weeks later, I think it might have been 12 but I could get the maths wrong. I'm sure the lo...

A new puppy. Chopper at 10 and Darwin at 3 have led us to a third in order to maintain an age gap of not too much. Chopper just wants his long walks,10 minutes of tennis ball, bit of scran at the end and a taxi ride home. Darwin on the other hand is after belting round fields chasing balls and anyth...

Re: HOUSEHOLD TIPS NOT FOUND IN WOMAN'S WEEKLY

I went through the whole dog food debacle with my two, sometimes they wouldnt eat, other times it would be wolfed down, then we went through the whole everything needed chicken or cheese on to eat it, yet regardless of the meal they would both scoff a dentistick or a treat. After all this messing ab...

Re: COMPUTERS, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY

I'm a massive fan of the old IBM "Clacky" keyboards with high keys and the larger old ergonomic mice. I'm not cracking on in age but after 20 years of heavy PC use my hands are starting to suffer with my thumbs tensing into my hand, not sure whether its arthritis, RSI, or a trapped nerve. ...

I'd go further to say its a one in a century to half a millennia event in Houston. I've been watching their local news broadcasts( http://abc13.com/live/ , http://www.fox26houston.com/live) for the past couple of days and its incredible, 9 Trillion gallons of water. Its currently forecast to continu...

Re: HOUSEHOLD TIPS NOT FOUND IN WOMAN'S WEEKLY

We have just spent our wedding gifts and one of those was a new fridge/freezer. Going from a freezer the size of a toaster seems such a luxury! All the "Serves 6" recipes can now be frozen down and kept instead of eaten for a 3 days on the trot :)

Well I get to keep my little stumpy tip, no infection found as of yet. Getting it redressed every Friday at the GP's now so that saves a 50 mile round trip. I think my remaining bit of nail has come loose so I cant wait for it to be changed.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...

Saw the finger on Friday without the blood. Shocked me a little as its missing more than we thought. Got it redressed and some advice to keep on the antibiotics and pain killers. Apparently there is quite a high risk of infection due to it being a dog bite, if it doesnt heal they will need to "...

I unfortunately pushed it and he clamped down with his teeth and my middle finger between the back ones. Stra...

Going on about Smartphones.. I've always been used to refreshing my phone every 3-6 months. When I left the last gig I got myself a Nexus 5X which does everything I need it to. Work gave me a EE Rook the other week, its £20, Android and you could do a lot worse! Couldnt believe the value really.

Spicy bean burgers chopped up and stuck in a tortilla with plenty of garlic mayo, and a piece of cheese & garlic flatbread topped off with potato salad and coleslaw. Weird mix but it filled a hole.

Now washing it down with a bottle of red

I would think the machine I built for you back in 2013 will run a later Ubuntu without too much fuss Tiz. It wasn't up to Stanley specs but it was far from a can of worms. A 2013 Desktop I3 will outrun most (95% +) 2016 spec laptops. Possibly talking myself out of sales here....... Called being dec...
