Re: DIALECT AND WORD MEANINGS

Last evening my wife told one of the cats to "stop moidering" That's the nearest I can get to the spelling. Moidering: "nattering, moaning or generally making a nuisance of your self". Another term we use often is "getten agate" Getten agate: get or got into the habit o...

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?

What do you do with Persimmon? Not a fruit I am acquainted with. To be honest, we don't do anything with them. Although of course there's plenty of things you can do. I've eaten some and to me they have a taste similar to dates. The trick is that they absolutely have to be soft and ripe before eate...

Re: Town Centre

I've remembered the tutors full name that I mentioned. Jack Lord.
His wife's pram shop at 27 Church Street was always advertised before the start of films I would go to watch at the Majestic.
That's how I remember the address :-)

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?

The Corned Beef Hash Stew lived on for another meal (our third from the pot) There wasn't a great deal left so I made some oven chips to go with it, well more like oven potato scallops really. Tonight I'm making Singapore Noodles with Prawns which is Prawns, rice noodles, ginger root, garlic, spring...

Barlick Modern Building

Barlick Modern before they added the "top bit" To the left of the main building, out of shot, was where I did most of my apprenticeship class work. It was a branch of Keighley Technical College at that time and had it's own small workshop for the practical work. I had to go to Keighley to ...

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?

Corned Beef Hash Stew. Tin of corned beef, onions, carrots, potatoes, water, a couple of bay leaves, Bisto (added when almost cooked). We get around 6 portions out of a pan load. Total cost $8 (around £5 ish) My wife calls it "chloroform stew" because I usually fall asleep when I've eaten ...

Thornton Rocks

Always an adventure play area when I was a kid. Fishing, Camping, climbing The Cat's Face, general messing about. Lots of rumours of what was at the bottom of the flooded area. Old cars, a huge crane. All false to the best of my knowledge. https://www.oneguyfrombarlick.co.uk/app.php/gallery/image/23...

Sod's Law is evidently alive and well in Oklahoma! Get the chainsaw out before it snows Mick! Some progress was made with the fallen tree this afternoon. Partially sawn into pieces I can chop up for the log pile. It's a work in progress with my back :( https://www.oneguyfrombarlick.co.uk/app.php/ga...

Is this Barlick?

This is in my "old Barlick Pictures" folder and is titled Whit Monday 1950.
Is it Barlick or should I move it to my generic old pictures folder?
Someone obviously wants to point out one particular kid on it.

We also enjoyed manhunt. Only 2 series were made but as they were based on real cases, that's to be expected.
I'm not usually a fan of Martin Clunes but I thought he did a really good job in this.

I made Chicken Breasts wrapped in Sage leaves and bacon with Sweet Potato oven baked fries.
But tonight we are both having a night off because I'm picking up a pizza on my way home from doing the shopping :good:
