Re: SPRING 2012

Yesterday was a gloomy wet morning but the sun came out for about three hours after Noon. It's raining now. Glass steady on 29.8" and rain or perhaps even sleet forecast for the day. It's a bit colder, so stove lit as usual. If March runs true to form we shall have some wind soon...

Re: Barnoldswick Town & Council

I think the main reason is that this is an open forum that succeeds because anyone can easily make comment. All the official sites I have ever seen are more on the lines of the free sheets we get from many sources. In effect they are PR exercises and don't allow free response. The way OG works is ne...

Re: POLITICS CORNER

The Benefits legislation has gone through Parliament and been passed. It remains to be seen how it pans out. I fear that whatever the arguments for and against, the basic fact is that funding has been cut and this must have repercussions. Will it target the right people? We see another U-turn forced...

The Huhnes are in court in October to face charges of attempting to pervert the course of justice. Report this morning that soldiers in training can't afford to eat properly. I don't understand, doesn't the army feed its recruits these days? Reports also of a bright light in the sky sighted all over...

Eileen, from your mouth to God's ear! However, let time have its effect. How long have we been online with the new platform? We are dong well and once Google gets the indexing of the archive done we shall be back to normal and in far better condition than we were more than two months ago.

Interesting to note that at no time has the Carlson site been mentioned. It looks as though they have abandoned the idea of a move and I often wonder how much weight my warning had about the 1932 flood. One thing is certain, the council are to be congratulated because they took notice and since then...

Bugger! I may have been found out.... Thanks for letting me know, nice to think that someone is reading the articles in the BET. The editor reckons the score is about 8,000 a week and it's quite surprising where copies end up.

I still don't understand why organisations like the Town Council don't avail themselves of the free forum they have on Oneguy. Join. invest a quid and have a widely read platform for free. Simples! I can't think of a better example of a 'no-brainer'.

Thanks for that. No skill on my part, just the power of the image. I love those tough boats, immensely powerful and built to withstand all weathers. They go out in conditions where everyone else is coming in. Lots of parallels with the lifeboats. The one at Mallaig had to cope with everything the sh...

The year is definitely turning. We reached the point this week where the sun is high enough at midday to shine over the roofs of the houses opposite and fill the kitchen with light. (Must clean the windows!)

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?

Funny thing is I am not sure what I had. When I got back from the butcher's I found that Stewart had added a bonus to my bag. They seemed to be spiced sausage meat wrapped in a thin layer of another meat and bound up in streaky back bacon. A sort of complicated 'Pig in a Blanket'. I grilled them and...

Moh, I think you are mature enough. It goes back to the days when everyone was so knackered during the week that sleep was more important than sex so Friday night became a favourite for those activities as Saturday was a lie-in. A 'Friday Nighter' was a woman who asserted herself and declared it was...

Brad, I've told people about that cure and when they have found it works they regard me as some kind of magician. Not enough maths being taught in schools!
