Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?

On catch up again after another busy patch, so a compendium... Please can I second the vote of thanks for Stanley's moving story? (It moved me to laugh out loud at the outside staircase!) Today's the day when LCC start work resurfacing the A56 at Foulridge... and also the day when Yorkshire Water ar...

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS

Leaf litter it is!

The area is used for composting grass cuttings and leaf litter nowadays, so China isn't far off.

As I said, not much of a mystery.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?

The lamppost has some paint scraped off it at a height of a truck's guard or bumper. A Co-op delivery wagon was seen turning in the road at the time that the column was pushed over... putting two and two together, I may be getting five! I'm pretty sure that if a car had pushed it over like that, it ...

Going back a few posts...

My colleague Ken Hartley, who's a governor at Airedale, reports that the hospital has set up its own 'care home' where patients can be discharged to in the absence of residential places elsewhere.

Anyhow, this is what caught my attention on Friday evening... http://www.oneguyfrombarlick.co.uk/gallery/image.php?album_id=11&image_id=13977 This column on Rainhall Road was hit by something around about half past five on Friday. As of yesterday evening, it was still standing. The barriers etc ...

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?

Catching up after an absence of several days... Will post a fresh picture of Bankfield later (maybe on Bank Edge view). The Nextdoor issue is interesting... locally, Tory councillors put a lot of effort into getting groups going - including thousands of pounds spent on postage. And that's the last I...

Re: FORGOTTEN CORNERS

The jury is still out for me on the local 'Transport Asset Management Plan' (TAMP) - which is what highway authorities have to have to get government funding. In a nutshell, this requires more less costly treatments being used to repair roads, rather than full resurfacing. The idea is that this 'sto...

Oi - you trying to do me out of a job Ian? The street lamp on former Elmers is a bit of a problem... (I think there are two that are out). The supply is from a feeder pillar on the gable end. This also feeds our xmas trees on that gable and round the corner onto Newtown. During the festive season, o...

Re: FORGOTTEN CORNERS

We took the bollards out on the side of Ellis Street next to the Town Square a couple of years ago to allow a temporary deck to be built for the music event at the end of May. I was shocked at how quickly several stone flags were trashed by vehicles running over them and parking on the pavement befo...

Re: PUBLIC SERVICE CUTS

There are rustlings in the undergrowth about imposing unitary 'local' government for Lancashire, or Pennine Lancashire. To my mind, that would be an end of any proper local government for us. The potential for this happening is one of the reasons we're taking on more and more district council stuff ...
