Re: COMPUTERS, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY

I've been in a couple of times, they seem fair if a tad expensive. I'd let the others chime in, phones aren't my forte either. I've bought cheap Cubots off ebay with no complaints. The wife has one now. Mine was new circa June 2016. Still hanging in there.

Re: COMPUTERS, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY

The one I sold you about 3 years ago wasn't exactly a spring chicken back then. The version of android it runs will be way past its sell by date. Sometimes a new version of software uses a feature that just isn't in old phones, They;ll sell you a new phone I suspect.

Re: POLITICS CORNER

The Labour manfesto gets my vote, if they only manage to deliver 10% of what they're promising, it would still get my vote. They are definitely over promising what they are going to do and playing down the changes to pay for it but thats the nature of the beast we call politics. We've f*cked the pla...

Re: MEDICAL MATTERS

This thread gets busier as time goes by. I'm making a visit to give you updates on my ailments. I'm still waiting to see a neurologist, I have an appointment at the end of February, my GP says she'll write to see if it can be pushed a bit. I have doubts about my ability to walk by then. Its still go...

Heres a little something I came across today that is pertinent to this thread on several levels. This is a capture of a youtube video : https://www.oneguyfrombarlick.co.uk/app.php/gallery/image/19350/source Watching it I came across this bit and I immediately thought Stanley and the Bancroft engine....

Re: CLIMATE CHANGE AND GLOBAL WARMING

Sorry Stanley, you're going to need to provide sources, I've been screwed over by unfounded assertions once too often. Bancroft being the last mill to close is a very weak argument, the cost of generating power in a mill is pretty insignificant along side the wages bill. Their business model worked....

They seemed to quieten down a bit when I pointed out that these old engines are still more efficient in terms of energy use over Grid based electricity because of the enormous losses in transmission. You're wrong by my sources. Grid transmission losses are about 8% on average in the UK https://publ...

"Quite enjoying my 'enforced' retirement." I think that could be the key Pluggy and you have found it. As you know,I stopped driving and walking any longer than 30 minutes at a time. Notice that I 'stopped', I don't regard it as 'giving up' but a welcome respite from things that had becom...

Re: Landline Telephones

The only thing keeping the landline going is that in many/most parts of the world and certainly in Britain, is that getting reasonably fast & cost effective internet is dependant on old school landlines. My daughter for one and I'm pretty certain she isn't the only one has a land line and has ne...

Re: CLIMATE CHANGE AND GLOBAL WARMING

Its effectively a primary cell, it produces a large amount of power and when it expires you replace it. It can be recycled to produce new batteries. You can't just plug it in at home or at a super charger some where, you take it out and replace it. (or at least replace the anodes which is what is ea...

You could try resetting or refreshing Firefox. On the 3 bars menu button top right, click help, and troubleshooting information, brings up a screen which inclides a button to Refresh firefox.

Are you searching google from the URL box or from the Google page ? Does it make a difference ?
