Re: Today I shall be Mainly...

I think there must be a fire somewhere, there is a yellowish haze and a slightly acrid smell. Your friend must have started early!

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...

Col set the mower up for me and put the oil in but from then on it was all mine. It shuts off as soon as you let go of a lever on the handle Maz. I just can't get over being able to start it with one push of a button after years of struggles with a pull cord. I was in trouble for knocking one of the...

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...

My new lawnmower arrived yesterday (late birthday present), it has a push button as well as a pull start so I'm hoping it will be easier for me to use. Grass cutting scheduled for this afternoon.....it will be a good test as the grass has grown long and thick with all this rain. :thankyou: ...

I haven't watched it because the main actor just makes me cringe, I can't watch him in anything and have to avert my eyes from photos. No idea why, there is just something about his features which ring alarm bells in my brain!

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...

I have cheered myself up on yet another wet day by clearing out my overcrowded airing cupboard and taking 2 bin bags full of unnecessary towels and bedding to the charity shop in Colne. I've also waxed my leather walking boots....... what can I do next?

Re: Seen in the News

There was an item on the local news last night about a company who will bury a bag of charcoal for you to offset your carbon usage. Apparently burning wood to make charcoal and then burying it is much better than growing trees.  Oh and you can buy pretend fried eggs made from soya whi...

How are your eyes Wendy.....?
The flashing is only occasional now but the extra floaters are taking a bit of getting used to. The drops are making my eyes a bit red and sore but nothing major. The call about further appointments didnt come yesterday.

Re: HOUSEHOLD TIPS NOT FOUND IN WOMAN'S WEEKLY

I have a feeling that any fatty substance would do the trick, not just olive oil. There is something in olive oil that is supposedly toxic to cats but you need so little that it hardly matters. Feeby is very perky after her treatment and is allowing us to stroke along her back again.

Re: HOUSEHOLD TIPS NOT FOUND IN WOMAN'S WEEKLY

This should really be in Pets Corner but it's a brilliant household hint if you have cats! Our 13 year old long haired cat Feeby developed some thick matting on her back and at the base of her tail this year, something that has never happened before. She turned into a vicious wee beastie every time ...

Re: THE FLATLEY DRYER

I always enjoy a wander round Lanlee. My friend Vera was looking for a 10lb fence maul as hers was broken, she is small and in her 70's so needs something reasonably lightweight to bash her stobs with. No luck there though they only had heavier ones. I stocked up on electric fence posts whilst I was...

What is the verdict regarding your eye, Wendy? No damage to the retina but the pressure in both my eyes is very high. I got a thorough examination and there is no damage to the optic nerve yet. I should get a phone call on Monday about more tests and an appointment to see the consultant. The weeken...

Thanks Kev, it's always reassuring to know that other people have gone through the same thing! My brother had it a few years ago in one eye and then the other. Visiting Burnley General Eye Department with a bit of an issue with my right eye. I got an emergency appointment at my optician on Wednesday after noticing flashing light on the edge of my vision and new floaters. Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS

No idea what that one is for but I used to love the brush shop on Victoria Street in Edinburgh. They made and sold every type of brush you could possibly want. Long gone now though.
