Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?

If I was offered the choice, I'd rather run the 268 miles of the Spine Race than row the Atlantic in a small boat. :laugh5: The Guardian made a mistake with the 286 mileage.
There is a summer version, can't wait!

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?

I was gripped by the Spine Race from the beginning, following the competitors' trackers live on the website, and watching videos of the race as they were posted on Facebook. There was drama from beginning to end with the last man on the course yesterday stopping to help an injured competitor and des...

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?

I've been glued to the Spine Race since it began last weekend. John did remarkably well didn't he? He finished just after 9am this morning. Jasmin is being interviewed on Woman's Hour this morning.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?

Great photo, 2 peas in a pod. Local fell runner John Boothman going well in the Montane Spine Race along the Pennine Way. He has just checked in and out of the Tan Hill Inn looking fresh and full of running! That's the half way point, but he is facing Cross Fell in the dark later on today. Y...

Let's hope it's your stress levels that are causing the high figures Maz and that they will reduce once you can get back to your normal housekeeping routines ...... imagining all that untouched dust upstairs must be sending your metabolism Crazy!! :laugh5:

Metformin has a very small effect on blood glucose levels Maz. Do your levels stay high all day or is it just early morning?

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER

It looks as if we are expecting some extremely cold conditions by the end of the month with the possibility of major snowfalls. I'm preparing to be snowed in! We have a full oil tank and a pile of logs so we will be warm. It's always the animals that are a worry, so I'm trying to stock up on food an...

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER

I couldn't help but think about the runners on the Montane Spine Race last night. They run the full length of the Pennine Way non stop. Last night the leaders came through Lothersdale and over Pinhaw in the wind and rain....

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...

I can remember when the waiting list for a meal at the Olive Tree was like putting your child's name down for a top public school! I shall be considering woodwork.... I need to make a carriage for the bow chaser. Into the drawing office I think. You are thinking of the Box Tree in Ilkley Stanley, T...

Fooled me for a bit Cathy but I think Stanley must be referring to Andy Murray who seems to have pushed his body too hard to stay at the top of his game.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...

I'm off to Ilkley to have lunch with a group of people I was at school with. Col's going to take me into Skipton and I will make use of my bus pass to get to Ilkley. We are eating at a Turkish restaurant called The Olive Branch and there are loads of low carb options on the menu!

Re: WE ARE WHAT WE EAT

Well said Tiz, appalling reporting taking the opportunity to attack low carb eating. The original article in the Lancet only spoke about fibre. We get plenty fibre from green veg, berries, nuts and seeds and even dark chocolate. I've just watched the BBC news report suggesting getting your 30gms fro...

Col was looking for annuity rates online yesterday and went on an annuity advice website. Within 2 minutes of entering his name and email address the phone rang and an "advisor" was on the line. He hadn't provided a phone number and nothing had come up automatically on the screen, so that info was h...
