Re: BOB'S BITS

I have a lot of Andrews Sisters, Mills Brothers, Ink Spots, Platters etc along with the Big Band stuff. I have just loaded around 3000 tunes ranging from 1920's jazz, through 30's and 40's swing, R & B, 50's R&R. In fact a selection of more or less every genre from 1920 up to date. All the lot are o...

Re: POLITICS CORNER

Yes, we used to have a thanks feature, (much like Facebook) but it was one of the 50 odd mods that eventually led to the breakdown of the platform. Executive decision to redeploy on a clean platform with minimal extensions and mods. Current status is: Enhanced Post Editor Gallery Extension 1 x extra...

Re: COMPUTERS, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY

No contact from Open Reach yet but my internet dropped carrier at 10.25 did a couple of restarts then went off totally for about 15 minutes. Back on now but still only at 25mbps with lots of line noise.

Re: Driving Licence Application

Well, they cashed my cheque and took the money for my new shiny photo licence on 17th May, that's just over a month ago. So, one would assume that they are going to give me a licence, simple question, where is it. I got a reply from my other simple question to the DVLA as to why I was marked as revo...

Re: FORGOTTEN CORNERS

I'm fairly certain there was a clock just above the original post slots or am I thinking of the one inside? It was very spacious inside for the counters wasn't it, counter services to the left and parcels to the right from memory. You could post your letters inside as well, into the back of the post...

Re: COMPUTERS, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY

Last Open Reach engineer said that the incidence of multiple reports of the same problem from the same area are long gone unless they get a pole down or some part of the network dug up. Landline telephones (where folk might hear the noise on the line) are getting fewer and fewer. The pole at the bot...

Re: COMPUTERS, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY

No contact from Open Reach today yet. After a re-boot and my router renegotiating with the exchange, I am squeezing 22mbps out of the line although it is unusable for the telephone due to the level of noise on the line.

Re: Driving Licence Application

Nothing back via email apart from an auto acknowledgement that they have received my email and are experiencing a heavy workload, the reply in three days rule is out of the window! So, on to a bit of efficiency and continuing after-care from LGI. I rang Debra, my surgeon Ian Anderson's secretary to ...

Re: POLITICS CORNER

It's Corbyn who is putting off many people. Bit of a sweeping statement there Tiz, quite unlike you with your scientific background. Have you canvassed all of the electorate for this statement or is it just supposition? Not been tested either, chance would be a fine thing but the Tories are into se...

Re: Favourite Walks and Rambles

I doubt that very much, it's a very good way of helping to keep fit. Carly has a list that she wants to tick off before she is 30. The Three Peaks is one of them. Caught sight of one of the BBMF Hurricanes yesterday doing its stuff over Keighley RLFC I believe. Heard it before I saw it of course. Sa...

Re: FORGOTTEN CORNERS

Yes and there was a Public Telephone Box in the recessed doorway. At first it was a 4d button A / B job, replaced by a beep beep, keep feeding me later generation job in the 70's. There was indeed a clock mounted above the letter boxes, two slots I think, one for local mail and the other for Nationa...

Re: Favourite Walks and Rambles

Jack's phone died on the trek over Thorns so we didn't get any further updates until he was back home and in the pub. He said it was pretty wet, especially on the last leg down Sulber Nick, basically a mud slide. Hard going when you have to fight it. My daughter Carla and a few of her girlfr...

No problem Stanley. If the coils are intact it should be recoverable. Waiting in for family and Open Reach at the moment and over at Silsden tomorrow. I'll see if I can pop round after lunch.

Re: COMPUTERS, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY

Yes I got a batch of delayed emails last night, not all though. They say on the website that it will take time for the mail servers to catch up with the outage and that no emails will have been lost. On my telephone line inspection that I did yesterday, (well, looking at the usual suspect). The mult...

Our lad Jack and a friend are walking the Yorkshire Three Peaks today. They made an early start and are now the other side of Penyghent and on the trek for Ribblehead via Higher Birkwith and Thorns.

QT audience last night was about 85% against Boris when asked on a show of hands. Only one supporter on the panel who was obviously one of the Tories looking at future preservation.

Re: Driving Licence Application

Problem there Tripps is that our career oriented Tory MP (Andrew Stephenson) is useless. I am still waiting for a reply from him for an issue I raised with him over two years ago. I had thought of writing to both the Chief Executive of the DVLA, (Julie Lennard) and copying in to the shadow Transport...

Re: COMPUTERS, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY

Indeed regarding the emails. Some of our addresses are working in Outlook but not my main panbiker address. I cant get into the webmail server either. TallTalk have confirmed the problem. My broadband is at 19mbps at the moment. Regarding changing ISP's. I would not have a problem with cancellation ...

Re: Driving Licence Application

Nothing yet from the DVLA so I have emailed them again. Specifically asking why my licence was marked as revoked when all I did was follow the links on the DVLA website. I have also pointed out that as far as medical conditions go. I have been accepted back as a blood donor by NHSBT. Also that it on...

Re: COMPUTERS, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY

They are all much of a muchness and each has their own virtues an pits. I reckon I might just push for the 67mbps upgrade for the same money. They offer it to new subscribers so why not a customer who has been with them since day one? I will argue my rebate for breach of contract later when OR final...

Re: COMPUTERS, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY

Not absolutely sure, I use a legacy address which pre-dates TalkTalks take over of Tiscali and Orange. May well still be able to access via webmail. Looking at the Talk Talk deal again, new customers can get 60mb fibre for what they have reduced my charges to. For the package I am on I should only b...

Re: COMPUTERS, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY

BT £31.99 on an 18 month contract with a choice of "free tech", a Samsung Tablet, Amazon Echo or a set of noise cancelling wireless headphones. The money back on contract price (36Mbps) is £20 per month if they can't deliver. That's £7.00 a month more than my new contract price with TalkTalk. £7.00 ...

Re: COMPUTERS, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY

They say I will get compensation when the fault is resolved! Not happened yet although they assume that all faults are fixed after an OR visit. They don't seem to have a model for ongoing intermittent problems like mine. My best bet might be to cancel my newly agreed contract (I have until the 15th)...
