Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS

It' a shoe stretcher, the two arms at the front could have various sleeves fitted that would add bulk in the correct places within the shoe. Such as a prominence maybe at one side if the user had bunions. Don't know what happened to it but I still have a three legged last that my mum had as well. We...

Re: Favourite Walks and Rambles

Nothing tends to bother me, I must taste nasty or something. The QI Elves were on the breakfast show on the radio this morning and shed a bit of light on that statement. Apparently biting insects prefer hosts with type O blood! My blood group is A rhesus positive which they said was proved to be a ...

Re: BE Bosom Friends Information and Fund Raising Events

Tonight will be the volunteers pie night social round at the centre. I have just picked up the pies from Miles Hutchinson's a mixture of Pork, Beef and Cheese & Onion. I shoved a selection sheet in the charity shop for our volunteers to fill in a couple of weeks ago. I will bubble the peas up th...

Re: BE Bosom Friends Information and Fund Raising Events

We held our Christmas Market at the weekend for local craft makers and traders. We vended Prosecco and Mulled Wine in exchange for a donation. A raffle was also run for the group. We made about £250.00 for the group. On another matter we get lots of donated Christmas decorations usually in the New Y...

Later.... News from the US that President Biden has pardoned his son Hunter after saying he would not. Re: ENERGY MATTERS

Tom came back the other day to finalise the boiler install. He flushed the radiators and put some rust inhibitor into the new Mag Clean on the system. Rechecked for leaks and redid all the safety, leakage and emission tests for the flue. Completed all the gas safe paperwork which I signed off. I put...

Re: Seen in the News

with the right conditions you'd be surprised how far an arc will jump. Quite a few variables such as the voltage and the amount of current and the ambient air conditions. A general rule of thumb would be 1mm per 1KV. That held good for the final anode on Colour TV CRT's which ran at 25KV. you could...

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?

Thanks everyone for my birthday wishes, much appreciated. Another day older and deeper in debt as they say, although the last bit not entirely relevant.

We are waiting for the bill for the new boiler which we would not have ordered if we couldn't afford to pay for it. :extrawink:

When I washed up the bits that wont go in the dishwasher last night I thought the hot water temperature (HWD) on it's default was a bit low so I whacked that up a bit. I left it on economy as Tom said the difference to delivery at the tap is only about 5 seconds longer and if its not on economy it k...

Tom is doing really well with the install. System drained, old boiler out, new boiler in and all pipe reworking done. Water back on and system re-pressurised and radiators refilled. New flue 75% installed. He tells me that a longer flue like ours gives better efficiency as the extra length offers mo...

Went to our Jacks this morning to take advantage of his shower which was very welcome. Spent this afternoon taking out the boxing for the boiler flue. Jonathan was on Politics North West this morning. Just watched it on BBC iPlayer catch up. He didn't sign that one as he said he did not agree with the current proposals as it doesn't include proper consultation with the electorate.
