Re: Miscellaneous DIY Projects (or bits of jobs)

Kev has sorted me out Stanley, not took long, my marking up and Kevs slicing and its bob on for a fit apart from about an 1/8th of an inch on the top rail, I can cut that with my tenon saw. Hung it on two screws to check the fit as it has to come off again for the other bits of timber for the latch ...

Indeed, its all marked up just needs cutting. Will have to drop a seat down I think but will bob over, back street Kev?

The gate posts are dry. Gate is in waiting for cutting down to the proper size. Sally has been stone painting to outside back yard wall but that has dried off also. I have the first coat of gloss on the gas cabinet, that says 16 hours between coats!

I would agree with Stanley, advertisers are definitely using tactical to describe anything remotely for outside use.

Re: Miscellaneous DIY Projects (or bits of jobs)

Best laid plans an all that! Running off the guide line sawing straight down!

By power saw, do you mean a circular saw Stanley? If so that would be good I could run that on the front face from the bottom to the top and use the outer edge with the guide.

Who would be a better leader for labour - in all honesty all the good ones are dead, maybe Andy Burnham if he were in parliament ? I concur there, Andy Burnham has buckets more passion, and can convey it much better than Starmer. He has not ruled it out for the future but not while he is in post as...

Re: Miscellaneous DIY Projects (or bits of jobs)

Thanks Stanley, I'll give it a go while its hung, should be easier straight down rather than on the top of the bins as they are a tad high, Next time the gate comes off I want to paint it and the posts at each side.

My Grandma and Granddad lived there at no 15 and my Aunt Margaret and Uncle Norman at no 17. Number 17 (nearest property) especially had a maze of cubby holes inside, probably remnants of previous builds.

Braided cords are more flexible than other types and are very resilient if coiled and stored properly from new.

Re: Miscellaneous DIY Projects (or bits of jobs)

Nice afternoon so I made a start on my back yard gate repair. Colin gave me two suitable lengths of T&G with slightly different offsets on the tongues and grooves. Fortuitous as it turned out as when I took the outer panel off I found the second one was also water damaged so I got that out as we...

Re: Miscellaneous DIY Projects (or bits of jobs)

Our radiators packed up on the CH. We have a morning boost for the bathroom which is where we noticed it. Traced it to the top radiator in the attic which is slightly inaccessible as it is behind a work table for Sally's sewing and crafting. Pressure was good in the boiler and I managed to get to it...

How do you install a heat pump to a terraced property with no garden and just a back yard which will also have lots of buried services running through it? Gas, electric, water, waste water and rainwater run off. Or is my perception of the required conditions flawed?

Don't forget, you need photo ID to claim your ballots.

What struck me was the candidate the LIb Dems have put up for Police and Crime Commissioner, he looks about 16! A lot of expertise there then.

Re: Miscellaneous DIY Projects (or bits of jobs)

Might as well ask here before I search elsewhere. Has anyone got an off cut of T&G floor board?

I am repairing my back gate and the front catch end panel needs replacing. I only need a 32" length. Top hinge rail needs replacing also but I have timber for that.

First migrant has gone to Rwanda! In my book not really deported as he went voluntarily after receiving a bribe of £3000 in cash. He also went via a scheduled flight. I would also assume that as he went voluntarily he will be under no rules to stay, Effectively he is a tourist with money.
