Re: BEWARE! THE BANKS ARE OUT TO GET YOU!

The financial system is only connected in so far as they move around the capital that is available, and HSBC today demonstrates how ably one company can move money. The £2.2 trillion of RBS loan book was exactly that, a loan book. The base finance meant that it only needed 2% of those loans to go ba...

"The only problem with the analysis is that the ones with the brilliant minds, the Phd's in Maths and physics who run the computers don't work for the companies that went bust." No, that's the point Richard was making, they worked for the ones we bailed out. Unless you have evidence Stanl...

Re: POLITICS CORNER

Pendle budget was passed last night with a coalition of Tories and Lib Dems. No increase in Council Tax. I am sure the other bits will be lead out by the various people. The one thing that sticks, is the £20k for the Rainhall Centre for 'business' use. I hesitate to suggest that this was one of the ...

Re: BEWARE! THE BANKS ARE OUT TO GET YOU!

The only problem with the analysis is that the ones with the brilliant minds, the Phd's in Maths and physics who run the computers don't work for the companies that went bust. In fact they are still happily working in the hedge fund companies and doing jolly well thank you. The reason that UK banks ...

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?

In an ideal world I would suggest that Stanley too. The problem is simply the amount of people who apply for each job. Even when I was a store manager, we used to get 30-40 a week when we didn't advertise Think what it is like when you have a job which people actually want. I've heard of HR departme...

I felt a big wave of disappointment at the total lack of support from the local companies mentioned above, especially as a friend of mine had travelled specifically all the way from Bolton with a hope of visiting the Rolls Royce stand. What a Shame, it could have been so much better... I believe RR...

Got a letter this morning stating that 90% are for a Tesco in Barlick. 90% of the people who went to first meeting (about 500), but Tesco haven't actually allowed independant verification. Since then, 600 sent in the letters of objection, and the poll conducted by the Co-op suggested that 65% saw i...

Trevelyan would be shocked to see how many Britons are still fully or partially illiterate and innumerate almost a century later. Would he though? Do you think he thought that the world would be a 'better place' by now? He did die in the 60's I was only amused by the fact that anyone should conside...

Re: BEWARE! THE BANKS ARE OUT TO GET YOU!

The RBS numbers are interesting. By reducing salaries they are effectively closing down their commercial opperations. By reducing assets they are decreasing share value. The retail banking arm is well within profit. The nett loss means no Corporation Tax, and a proviso for future years profits, so t...

Looks like Labour may be getting desperate: Ed Balls, tries to pull the policies of the right wing think tank The Tax Payers Alliance with his call for tax changes. Currently, it has a lot to do with the displacement of those upper atmosphere winds.

A big block of atmosphere is diverting some of the normal weather.

All the rain is currently being dropped on the North West of the Country. Just ask Scotland, which is setting new records for rainfall.
