Re: 'Owt else or Any Other Business
I stayed up till silly o'clock last night / this morning, watching the final round in the chess world chanpionship candidates knockout tournament. I went to bed thinking that Russian Ian Nepomniachtchi had shaken hands with American Fabio Caruana, indicating resignation. That meant a tie for first p...

From around 2010 Goodbye to you, my trusted friend. We owned each other until 09 or ten. Together we overdrew the equity. Learned to walk and live off cheese, skimmed our milk and thinned our tea. Goodbye my house, it's hard to buy, when all the prices are up way too high, Now that the spring is in ...

Rod Liddle says today - after the 'shock' resignation of Tory MP for Fylde, Mark Menzies “My favourite fact about Mark is a testament to the wit and intelligence of our governing party. Ten years ago Menzies was accused of attempting to procure drugs from a teenage Brazilian rent boy. He immediately...

Nicely put - and a good quote.
PS I've re-done the link. It works OK for me. I like auctions - even down market ones like this.

I have just dug a bit deeper, and find that the "Community Matron" is not described as such on the practice website. There she is called an "Advanced Nurse Practitioner", and "Diabetes Nurse". Looks like the website has not caught up with the latest reorganisation. I re...

I appreciate what you do to remedy things, and what you say about logical fault finding, but there was definitely a problem just after midnight yesterday Sat 20/4/24. I couldn't get into the site, even after clearing my cache etc, which I do every night, and using a different browser Firefox then Duc...

I can't find it now but I saw an advert a while ago for nurses to do these assessment roles. Formal language, but the gist of it was "are you tired of real nursing which is hard work, has unsocial hours, and you will get your hands dirty? Come and work for us where it's Monday to Friday only - ...

This makes you think. Grimsby House clearance auction After watching it I'll be going to the tip. My little treasures seem to be worth very little. A box of records, including one signed by Val Doonican has just sold for £3. My Sony mini Hifi has made £4. PS I've redone the link - It works OK for me...

Something definitely was amiss last night. My hours are not as extreme as Stanley's but I start and finish late. The connection dropped just after midnight and "Down for everyone or just me" confirmed it was everyone. I assumed it was for maintenance and gave up.
All is well now.

See here for more info Community Matron I have mixed feelings. Sometimes I would think an experienced nurse would be better than a newly qualified doctor, but even Physicians Associates are not allowed to prescribe, so I get the feeling that it is another step in the direction of dumbing down. Can't...

Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
I came across a "Community Matron" recently. It seems they are some sort of District Nurse, but can diagnose and prescribe drugs. I'd never heard of them and find they are Band 7, and are paid between £43 - £63k which seems higher than that for some 'Junior Doctors'. Are they new, and a fu...

Re: BE Bosom Friends Information and Fund Raising Events
That's a bit of a thing with me and has been for a while. As actually doing the work becomes less onerous, and requires fewer workers the surplus of labour has gravitated toward supervising and regulating those who still do it. Mostly being paid far better salaries than those actually doing the work...

I came as a mild surprise to me when I was discharged to be given a package telling how me how and where to go back if recalled. They kept that quiet. I thought twenty two years was plenty enough. I just wrapped it all up and ignored it. Too old now - but I can't imagine going to war now for...

We believe the Spanish grapes bring a higher quality wine in our classic range and are fruity and refreshing, as you'd expect of Lindeman's wines! Fobbing off service I'd say. My bottle wasn't either fruity or refreshing - in fact it was unpleasant. and will now be tipped away. I think near...

This from the House of Commons is worth looking at. I think Doctor Nurse John Campbell has become a bit obsessive and a bit too prolific lately, and has had people on his channel with less than ideal provenance. That said - if you wish to - take a look at some, or all of it. Then think for yourself,...

Lili from Lindemans has responded. Hi David, At Lindeman's, our focus has always and will always be to provide a refreshing, fruity wine that our customers love. Previously, this delicious wine has been sourced from Australia. In recent years, due to a global difficulty in sourcing of grapes in Aust...

Feb 23 2010 This is from Mary Ann Sieghart's column in today's Times. I think it is fair to say that John Prescott got more than he bargained for. It's not every day that the Deputy Prime Minister announces himself to you as a buffoon. This was just weeks after the 7/7 terrorist attacks and John Pre...
