Cannot bear to get rid of one. We started a book shelf down the pub to reduce the numbers in the house, this is a take a book away, bring one back sort of offer. A free bookswap if you like.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
It is light enough to work outside at 06.45. How the days are drawing out now, excellent. Dog hair and dust removal required in the living room and then clearing the top of the cupboard in the dining room and then the hallway needs a whole lot of work done on it. We have not recovered from our flood...

Braised lamb leg steaks, mash and peas. My magic ingredient for the gravy is mushroom ketchup, substitute for worcestershire sauce if you have none to hand and further substitute with brown sauce if no mushroom ketchup or worcestershire sauce available. No more than plate polishing for the dogs as t...

Dad used to do that to my dumplings (those made from suet, flour etc before there are cries from the kind hearted). I don't think it was part of mother's upbringing but it was his and therefore mine. Mindyou, it stopped as time progressed, the last I can remember I would have been about 7.

The blackbirds were getting territorial yesterday and I saw the collared doves in the pre-assembly stages of making new collared doves. Spring is in the air ![Laugh :laugh5:](./images/smilies/board/icon_lol.gif)

I got this response: Thank you very much for reporting a ringed bird. Ring recoveries provide important information on the survival and movements of birds and we value every report. You have made your report via a website operated by EURING on behalf of all European bird ringing schemes. Your report...

Picked up a Goldfinch from the bottom of the garden today, dead as a doornail but only recently so. I had a squint and it had a ring on its leg so I have gone onto the British Trust for Ornithology's website and recorded the tag for posterity. The BTO have a site in Thetford, could have gone there t...

Oooerrr Stanley, that does sound rude! Jobwise I do not have anything to go to as yet but had made my mind up to go on 5th February when I was told to do something which goes against all my principals. I had already put my c.v. on the tinterweb thingy and Monday other work related stuff occurred whi...

Bacon Hotpot added to my list of gastronomic must-haves. So much to eat, so little time to cook. As my mother says: "Good belly hold all."

Re: Favourate Dicken's Novel - Do you have one ?
Dombey and son for me. There was a brilliant adaptation on the BBC and I was asked about Christmas presents shortly afterward. A beautiful copy: leather bound and tissue thin paper was carefully wrapped by the aged parents and received by the arrogant young offspring. So I not only loved the story b...

I wonder if your bacon hotpot is the same as my bean do? Ingredients bacon (cut into 1" squares), tin of baked beans, tin of (or fresh) tomatoes and plenty of pepper. Crisp up the bacon, add the tomatoes to the pan, add the beans and season well; cook until the bean sauce thickens up well and s...

Re: Location, Location, Location
The Ing farm sounds good, as does the Hagg Road / Street / Lane place. I am convinced by the number of baptisms for the family that we are in the right location between Colne and Barrowford, bapt in Colne and later census' in Barrowford. It is in the census that my Thomas Bolton says he is from Hag ...
