I have just watched Venice 24/7 about the Popes visit. It was May 7th last year. Ironically Bob and I were there the previous weekend, leaving on May 2nd. There was absolutely no indication of aan imminent visit. No posters , no talk about it, nothing. How strange!

I went to Southern Ireland last September, to Tralee and the Circle of Kerry. Beautiful but it never stopped raining as we caught the hurricanes coming over from America. There is a good programme about the real Venice and its daily life. I think it is called Venice24/7 Its on BBC 4 , I think wednesday night. about 8.00 or 9.00pm. We have been watching it in France and therfore lose track of UK time.

The answer is NO! Stanley I like to be busy. As for the relaxed way of life in France we are busy now so we can enjoy the summer, with lots of friends visiting, and lots of relaxation eating the products of my efforts now. Friends for a meal tonight. I have cleared the freezer of last years products...

Everything cut, sown, dug, pruned, weeded. Just finished. I went to a french l;esson with some English friends this morning and off to the local watercolour class tonight. Weather still warm but not as sunny. Rain forecast for tomorrow

I know the feeling Wendy. After nearly two weeks of heavy gardening, digging out, weeding , planting, hoeing and raking my poor arthritic thumb is swollen and painful. My back is good however. We have nearly finished the tasks we set ourselves. I have to weed the flower borders and sow the wild flow...

Foggy this morning till about 11.00am. We have been to Rennes all morning and had lunch there, sat outside watching the world go by. Back at the house now and it is unbelievably hot

Beautiful day today and more of the same forecast tomorrow. It was 30C on the back of the house and also very pleasantly warm whilst we were doing the veggie seeds. Already our first week over. The rest is doing me good

The actual place is La Vallee, La Chapelle Gacelin. But it is only a farm hamlet of4 houses and probably won't come up. It can be found on Google earth

Its a cool and misty start in Brittany but sun forecast this afternoon. Temperatures have been a pleasant 13 plus degrees the last couple of days. Much much warmer in the direct sun. With very little wind it was ideal garden fire day yesterday. We had two at the same time.

Roast chicken last night with my homegrown sprouts carrots and oasnips. Stuffing from last years sage, frozen last autumn before it died back due to frosts which can be harsh in Brittany.
