Re: Today I shall be Mainly...

Off to the Lakes today, it looks like we shall have the same weather as every year, rain, wind and at the end of the week, snow. Friends are staying with us for the the middle 3 days and we may go and visit others later in the week. A change of scenery especially to the Lakes is always refreshing

Re: MEDICAL MATTERS

Ironically I had a ruptured disc a year after my daughter Claire. She had a different operation from me and had to wear a corset for weeks and could only lie down not sit. It was done by an orthopaedic surgeon at the local hospital. Mine was done at Salford Royal by a top neurosurgeon by keyhole sur...

Re: OBITUARIES

The lovely Dianne Oxbury, of BBC North West died suddenly in Christies on Thursday aged just 51. She was the best weather forecaster I know, accurate and well presented. Being local to North West you may not know her but over here everyone is shocked. A good journalist, meteorologist and lovel perso...

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...

I cooked yesterday. I converted the last of a joint of ham into a ham and mushroom pie. Then I made two cheese and onion pasties with the left over pastry. I made about 5 litres of soup with one of our remaining three pumpkins, which are beginning to go beyond their shelf life. Finally I wrote a pie...

We did over 9 miles yesteday, we stopped once to consume some water and a piece of Christmas cake, then had lunch at the Summit Pub on the Rochdale canal. Re: Today I shall be Mainly...

I know nothing about finance and investments to be honest it bores me, I am happy to pay someone to do it for me. They don’t get that much a year from me, but I do from the investments made with my capital. Perhaps we are lucky I have no complaints.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...

Well I beg to differ in the present financial climate our financial advisors have managed to make us money and reduce our tax. We are happy paying their fees which are minimal in contrast to the outcome. I suppose it depends who you use. Ours was initially a small company recommended to Bob by his e...

I wish you well Wendy. I remember when Doc had the same situation he paid for advice and help and consolidated all his pensions in one fund. He said it was a good solution for him and worth the fee We did too and never regretted it, especially as at that time we inherited from Bobs Mum and wanted t...

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...

Boil your head, have a Hot Whiskey toddy with 2 Aspirins and a 40 min afternoon snooze... Makes you sweat, but clears the pipes ( according to my hubby. I have never needed such a remedy so cannot declare it personally!) I wish! With two little grandchildren around not much chance of that. At 1.15 ...

Re: MEDICAL MATTERS

5 weeks? That's awful, I don't do 'ill' so am a very impatient patient. I lasted an hour in the office this morning before I decided it wasn't for me today. I feel a bit of a fraud with those on here with 'proper' illnesses but I can't believe how rough I feel. It was the dreadful cough that went o...

Sorry about Bertie , Wendy, I feel for you, and for you Stanley as Christmas always brings back memories of such sad events. It is 7 years since my Dad ended up in hospital after a short Christmas illness, passing away just a few short weeks later on his birthday. On a lighter note we had a fabulous...

Has anyone else had this rotten cough and cold? I thought I'd shifted it after 3 weeks but it's come back with a vengeance. I just need to know how long it's likely to last as I'm getting bored with it now.

I don’t dispute any of that but surely he knows that any negative on his part will be picked up on by the Tories. He is no fool. Anyway I just felt it needed saying. The two of them are like children in a playground.

Its funny how people perceive things in different ways. I always try not to be biased, in this case I support neither of these people or their politics so hopefully I am impartial about the event
