Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?

Will check out the carrot museum ( who would have thought there would be one!) And in answer to your question...no...didn't notice any wee changes...but I don't with beetroot either...and I eat that regularly. Tis Asparagus that most noticeably changes urine. What a lot of thoughtful trouble to go t...

Re: Creative writing

Oh good on them...I think that is wonderful. They do say you make a better writer when you have a bit of life experience under your belt, and I thoroughly agree with that. Did your friend find it easy to get published? I've read so much on how hard it is to run the gauntlet of publishers...which ten...

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?

BB - the carrots stayed purple during cooking. They were the colour of tinned beetroot. Water went the same colour...I could have dyed the Royal Robes. They are kind of 'horsey' looking carrots...more like purple parsnips to look at. I have enough for another meal during the week. I wonder when thes...

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?

Tasmanian Salmon tonight. Poached...no garlic! I bought some purple carrots on the weekend. ( purple through and through...why I thought they would be orange inside...I dont know). They were yum, and said to contain remarkable health benefits. Note to self...do not cook purple carrots in the same po...

Fly trap, wasp trap or rain gauge?
Or possibly a 'shaper' for a cone of lollies or chips?

Then there was the constipated mathematician who, when confronted with a problem, worked it out with a pencil.

Any new mystery objects then? :drunk:

Re: OBITUARIES

Found in the bath, I believe. Could point to usage of 'ice'.... ( let's not jump to conclusions) Perhaps the body just naturally gave up after all she had put it through. It happens. ( though it looks as if she overdid it the night before and possibly carried on in party mode) My favourite song was ...

Possibly an undiagnosed Pendle Witch!
( nah...it just makes me throw up and gives me diabolical gut ache...as if I have been shot straight through the middle with a burning cannon ball...lasts for hours...and I tend to make my way between bed and the bathroom on all fours.)

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?

Yes...I would be happy with that rule of thumb, Whyperion.( if you want to add to Atlantic Salmon, I think you can't beat a white sauce with lemon zest, black pepper, a touch of tarragon and a touch of dill, and a little parsley.) Though I wouldn't mess with the veg. I like the natural taste of veg....

Re: We all Love A Moan, What Annoyed You Today...

(do you mean apart from Avatars disappearing all over the place? Noticed yours was gone too, Doc) Well...I already had a little moan about this on 'What did we have for Tea'. Went to a pub with friends last night and I was very disappointed to find all the things I would have liked to have chosen to...

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?

Ate out at a pub last night. The meal was nice, but we found we had very little choice, as three quarters of the menu contained Garlic! So it was plain old Chicken Schnitzel for us. ( we both would have liked seafood but all of the seafood dishes were laced with Garlic...and it wasn't just sauces th...

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?

Spicy Beef Noodles.
Have made the 'spicy beef' sauce this afternoon ( with Chilli and Chinese Five Spice etc) and will just melt the noodles in at the last minute.
Made BBQ Chicken Pizza last night, and gosh it was nice...I would eat that often, but Febby only likes it occasionally.

Re: DIALECT AND WORD MEANINGS

Could "pulling the wool over someone" refer to biblical times. Was it Cain ( who killed his brother Abel) that skinned an animal and wore it so his blind father would think he was touching his favourite son? Abel had been more hirsute than Cain, hence the animal skin. ( gosh...going back to Sunday S...

Re: Bagpuss

I do like the David Hockney style. I shouldn't look at things like that. It is easy to be influenced. ( I was hoping to work some purple into my mural and it was the first thing I noticed when looking at David's work. Just letting you know that so you don't think I copied!) Thank you for your commen...

Or are you just up too early this morning and suffering from sleep deprivation? I do recall a comment made about knitting body parts...

Re: Bagpuss

Soon, Nolic.
I have been taking pics along the way.
Might take some toward the end of the week...I have a large area of paddock I want to grass first.
(it is based on a collection of photos I took on a drive around Pendle in 2009)
