Re: Winter 2012

You will all have to wear two pairs of Bridget Jones' tomorrow, possibly with pyjama pants under those.
Bed sounds like the perfect spot...trundle the TV in there...and make up a thermos of coffee.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?

Almost 44 degrees here...who can eat anything much in weather like this? I decided some Red Salmon Cakes would be the go, though I was short on what to have with it and needed inspiration from the items I had. I wasn't going to the shop in this heat! Some rummaging about I found Red Capsicum, Red On...

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS

The spatula thing you showed is quite large ( as they go in dentistry) and I recall smaller ones with the larger end having curved bottom and being much narrower. Then there were tiny rubber pots ( very flexible) for mixing stuff ( like miniature mortar and pestle arrangements but using those tiny s...

Gosh. Don't put your tongue on the garden wall or you will stick to it.
Keep warm and dry.

Exact opposite here of course. Have been in and out the cold bath a few times. It will be worse tomorrow.

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS

Sorry Stanley. ( first husband was in the dental profession) I was going to be quite specific and say it was used for mixing amalgam, but decided to keep my answer general. I knew you would ask for specific detail if you wanted it. Besides, I am sure that a handy tool like that has many non dental u...

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...

Main aim is to keep cool today. Was up early watering the garden and now plan to spend the day moving very slowly whilst cleaning and organising our study. Haven't seen the top of my desk for some time. Febby's on the other hand, is spotless and tidy. ( because any crap he finds difficult to handle ...

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?

You are correct, Moh - it was too warm for soup, but my husband loves soup any weather. Plus I was getting a bit sick of Salad.
But we are back to Salad tonight with some Red Salmon Fritatta which I dug out of the freezer this morning.
38 degrees today, 42 tomorrow...

Re: QUOTE OF THE DAY. TRIPPS ORIGINAL

I like quotes that cut to the heart of the matter. Two I have read recently :-

"Don't waste your love on someone you cannot live with. Spend your love on someone you cannot live without."

And

"Live for a purpose...or you die for nothing."

Re: SO, WHAT IS A CAT?

My former mother-in-law died 10 days ago. She had lived alone with her male cat..who curled up beside her each night in the empty chair previously occupied by my former father-in-law ( who sadly died of Mesothelioma some seven years ago). He wasn't a particularly pretty cat, or social cat, in fact h...

Re: Winter 2012

Ah..good to know,Sue. We heard one of the fires ( not sure if in Tasmania or on the mainland) had a 96 kilometre front. Febby and I both agreed that the English probably can't imagine a fire burning on a 96 kilometre front...but then again we find it difficult to grasp traffic jams on your motor way...

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...

It was a toss up between Hitchcock or Hobbit.
But it was my choice this time, so it was Hitchcock. ( in the movie someone calls him Hitchcock... He responds by saying " please call me Hitch and hold the cock". Ooooooooooo)

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...

Febby and I sat in the back row of the small cinema ( so romantic?) It was near the door we had come in. There was a heavy curtain shutting out any light. I noticed about half way through the movie that a single gentleman on his own had actually fallen asleep ( snoring gave him away) just in front o...

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...

Went to the cinema today to escape the heat. Saw "Hitchcock". Really enjoyed it. ( thought Helen Mirren was excellent. Anything with Helen in it is excellent. Wanted to put a bit more weight on Hitchcock, especially his face, but otherwise the role played by Hopkins was also well done.I loved everyt...

I've had yucky nose bleeds too...which I put down to the tail end of this Virus mixed with the hot weather. ( I know it isn't my Blood Pressure as we both check our BP each morning and my readings are normal...so BP medication is doing its job.)
Hate waking up with blood on my pillow case.

Trouble is you have that 'sweet-faced Grandad' look, Stanley.
I wouldn't be able to decide if you are trustworthy, untrustworthy, or if you are going to turn it all around at the end and bring it all home as a double agent!

Re: MEDICAL MATTERS

David.. I can imagine these swellings are actually quite alarming. I am wondering if the sutures they used in your cardiac surgery could have set off this reaction? They would be the only foreign matter now residual in your body after surgery. Worth considering. ( I had abdominal surgery some twenty...
