....and she made me smile when I began to cook tea. She went straight to her bag and stuck her head in to check out if her food bowl was in there. Then looked at me as if to say "well I am obviously staying for dinner...get with the program Maz and put some food in my bowl..."

Babysitting son's Labrador. Stomach on legs that is constantly hanging about either the pantry door, the fridge door or the oven door. I was cooking a Salmon and Spinach Quiche when she arrived and nearly had apoplexy when she stuck her entire big black head in the oven when I went to remove it! Can...

Yes....but such a "passion killer" Postmanpete. Not the most attractive thing to have in the bed, is it? Not sure I am ready to be classified as an invalid yet. ( I have torn a tendon lengthwise, so it is not strong enough in this state to support the relaxed foot. The tendon is not used when walkin...

Back is not too bad now, Stanley. I tend to get in weird positions as I sleep, because I've had an ankle problem for years and it can't take the weight of bedclothes. I actually sleep with a splint on each night, which helps. ( avoiding an operation at all costs). But getting comfy with the mangy an...

Febby isn't as bad as he used to be about keeping in touch with the office now that he has a more competent partner. And I am happy to report that his mobile...

I still have the iPad 1. Have had it over two years and the battery life has never faltered and no signs of it needing recharging more often. I would use my iPad at least four solid hours a day...in an on and off basis...and I only recharge it probably every fourth day and it takes that long for it ...

I can't actually read that...is anyone else having problems? Attention attracted by police sirens and helicopter circling our suburb for the third time in a fortnight. Haven't heard any explanation for it. I was just about to pop out for an afternoon walk when today's episode began, but thought bett...

I haven't heard of Creosote being banned here...mind you, I haven't heard of anyone using it for ages either. It used to be all the rage for retaining walls etc. Have you tried the vacuum cleaner, Wendy? I did once when I had bees coming into my kitchen down the range hood over the hot plates. Stood...

Minting your own coins again?
Just general housework today and two pairs of trousers had to be taken up for Febby.
Woke with a sore back this morning so have been going half pace, but seem to have got everything done.
Hopefully this leaves tomorrow free for ancestry...

We were driving home from the book exchange when I saw an amazing sight. Two crows flew across the road at a low height in front of our car. They were coming from the passenger side, where there was a McDonalds outlet in the car park of a shopping centre. My first focus was the crow trailing second....

But gosh....what a beautiful VIEW! We took out a big window in our lounge room ( which overlooks our back garden) and replaced it with double glass doors to provide access to a wisteria covered verandah we had erected. Big job, but glad we did. I remember the unusual sensation of the outside suddenl...

Hubby works in the building industry and designs a lot of houses, Tiz, and I can smell the gypsum in the product when we walk through homes that are being built. He can't smell it. I can probably pick out the odour because it has a similar tang to wet plaster applied to fractures. I have a pretty se...

Still on the soup.....( getting terribly tedious) But hubby has now lost 4 kilos in the last fortnight and I feel a bit slimmer but have not lost a pound. Made a 'two night' pot of Soup again today, but think I am going to have to bust loose and eat a proper meal the following night after that, befo...

Got the urge to completely empty out our guest bedroom and Spring clean it today. It is always neat and tidy, but it was a good day to strip the bed, flip the mattress, air the quilt, vacuum the skirting boards, wash the window and clean every darn slat of the timber blind. Where these urges come fr...

Re: Family Matters
I think things are changing in some respects. Hubby and I both sense that our ( combined) children will have no interest at all in worrying about us or caring for us in old age in the way that is probably currently accepted to be the norm. We feel it is our own responsibility to plan for ourselves.....

Don't worry Wendy....someone will come along who knows just how to handle her, and you will breathe a sigh of relief. Lovely sunny day.
Went for a long walk. Also swept and tidied our patio....fertilised the pot plants, tidied the hanging baskets.
Went wild with the surface spray...spider season coming up.
Need to oil the wooden furniture this week...

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Good idea, Tiz. The soups are all home-made and chock full of Veg. I vary them as much as I can for interest sake, including adding Curry Powder to one lot during the week just to take the boredom off it ( for me). I wouldn't mind if I was getting the results his lordship is, but I find it terribly ...
