Re: FORGOTTEN CORNERS
Today's forgotten corner is a man called Wallace Neave. I got to know him at West Marton where he was mechanic in the garage and worked with him a lot especially when I was in the garage with him for about six months. I learned a lot from him. He had no formal training but lots of experience and was...

Was that chemical Trichloroethylene? ( LINK ) I know it was used for degreasing in industry very widely. Nasty stuff, it could make you drunk! We were exposed to a lot of chemicals like that, very useful but very bad for the user. We used to use some chlorinated grease on any application where it wa...

There is a lot of satisfaction to be gained by living within your means and watching your bank balance grow slowly month by month especially when you are on a low income. There is a lot more satisfaction in giving any surplus to a loved one when they really need it.

Re: STEAM ENGINES AND WATERWHEELS
Occasionally a weld could fail while the boiler was under pressure. This usually resulted in catastrophic explosion and this still happens occasionally for a variety of reasons. We went to one boiler at a slaughterhouse in Hull and I couldn’t understand how they’d managed to get away without a serio...

There was a genuine old fashioned herbalist in Prince's Street in Stockport and mother always took us in for a drink. My favourite between Sarsaparilla and Dandelion and Burdock was the latter..... Much more flavour than modern pop and no bubbles.

Wonderful news..... Only thing that bugs me is the way the UK media keep saying the rescue was led by 'British divers'. Whether it's true or not, totally the wrong time to be waving the flag. The Thai organisation was what made it possible, why not praise them?

It's just been announced that they are bringing the four remaining boys and the coach out together.
The 19 divers went in two hours ago and they expect the rescue to take less than 9 hours.

I had the last of the haslet with onion and tomato and veggies for dinner. Tea was the rest of the sweet herring pickle with veggies and the last of the onion and tomato. When I got to the works it was deserted except for one man who showed me the boiler I had to revive. I am not a fan of spray fly killer but have to admit that during this hot weather I have resorted to using it. I hate flies!
