Re: POLITICS CORNER
All I know about the woman is that I would be a lot happier if she was Leader of the Party and not Starmer. Really? She's off the front page today due to other global events. I thought she would be toast by now, as the might of the Murdoch empire (Times and Sun) put the boot in, but she may...

A bit 'off the wall' but a very memorable Google experience. I learned from the Failsworth Independent Party's Facebook page that Warren Bates a former Councillor had died. I thought little of it until gradually over a few days, I realised that the name Warren and the picture of this face we...

A good starting point in this episode would be the article in the New Statesman by tax lawyer and mega brained Dan Neidle Just expert facts. and with no Tory desperation, spin, lies, public school snobbery and just plain hatred. Worth a look. He explains which matters are 'out of time' and which are...

A timely reminder - make sure your stock of vinegars does not run down. It has an almost eternal shelf life, and doesn't take up much room. They say you can get smear free windows using the White variety, but I haven't tested it yet. The balsamic (of course) is the Aldi cheap variety, but quite plea...

One thing this thread won't be is predictable. Tell me when you've had enough though won't you? Ed note. Jim Greenhalf is a retired correspondent and author, lately of the Bradford Telegraph and Argus. I would recommend his book 'Salt and Silver' which tells of the founding of the Saltaire M...

on holiday in Alnwick. I worked just outside Alnwick for a few years in the early 1970's, and the castle then was a teacher training college. I looked on Streetview recently and found it exactly as I remembered it - then thought why shouldn't it be. I guess little has changed on the main street for...

The mind boggles, this was a senior politician with responsible jobs. The mind might have boggled once upon a time, but I now assume that most politicians are probably crooks, at best a bit odd, and most male Tories are gay - declared or otherwise. I heard on LBC news this morning that a ne...

Fair enough - two good reasons to persist. They are just not my "cup of tea" and I have only myself to consider, so I tend make a very quick judgement.

Thanks I shall watch the take off. I love the Youtube flight deck videos, though that's as near to actual flying as I want to be. I still find it hard to believe that an aircraft weighing a couple of hundred tons cand do such a thing as fly.
