Re: PET'S CORNER

I'm so sorry to hear that Wendy. I still miss our Connie who died almost 2 years ago of a brain tumour aged almost 16. It's so sad to lose a family member.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?

Maz, I only ever cooked a duck once. It looked huge compared to the normal size chicken that would have fed about 6 people. When I cooked it there was next to no meat on it. Very disappointing. I hope yours is more of a success than mine.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...

Sue and Maz I thought you would appreciate this. At a sewing class a couple of weeks ago friends asked what were we all doing in the afternoon. I replied that at the very least I had to dust and vacuum. One women said "why, is someone visiting this afternoon? I only dust if someone is coming.&q...

Re: HOUSEHOLD TIPS NOT FOUND IN WOMAN'S WEEKLY

I understand exactly how you feel Stanley. The kennels I took my dog to made a point of pairing the dogs with another friendly, same size / aged dog so that they had company. The older dogs were all inside with access to outside when they needed and they had either beds on the ground for the ones wh...

Re: STATE PENSION

All employers here are required to pay 9.5% of 'ordinary time earnings' into an employees superannuation fund. Currently you can draw on your super fund tax free once you are over 60. It also means that once you turn 60 you can continue working, pay a large amount into your super, at a reduced tax r...

Re: STATE PENSION

Pension age in Australia is making it's way up to 67 for everyone. It's a sliding scale and currently minimum age is 65.5 years old. The advice here is to put more money into your own superannuation fund as soon as you start work, and ultimately become a self funded retiree.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?

We had a State Government election in Victoria Australia yesterday. My attention was attracted by the absolute thrashing our State Labor Government gave the Liberals yesterday. I have never seen the like. Methinks the Libs have a lot of rebuilding to do before the next election. What an embarrassment.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...

Quite right Ian. My recipe is for a smaller amount. So you don't have to look Maz. 1kg cucumbers, 2 large onions, 1/2 cup salt, 2.5 cups of apple cider vinegar, 1 cup each white and brown sugar (I've reduced this by half of the original recipe), 2 tsp turmeric, 2 tsp mustard seeds. I always soak the...

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?

Dare I confess, sausages are one of the things I missed when they started putting 450 and 451 preservatives in the commercial ones. I did a sausage making course and I've have a fantastic home made spice mix that I now use in my own. I made a batch the other day and I've made it into sausage rolls f...

Mine too has a huge number of stitches ( I can’t find tge number in the manual) and I can even set it to sew horizontally...so the book says. No doubt you can do mirror image and enlargement too...
