Phew... eventually (4 hours) sussed it out, there was a semi-colon ";" missing in a path statement.

But you all have your avatars back which is a major bonus for me, it turned out we didn't lose them, the software just ignored where to go look for them because of the above error.

It looks like it won't let you add the avatar back. Very strange, It's late now but I will look at this first thing tomorrow.

Oh Crap... looks like everyone has lost their Avatars - AGAIN. I promise it wasn't me (I thinK) well not on purpose anyway. I think there might be a bug or two lurking about, I'll go and investigate.
