Re: TIZER'S SCIENCE NEWS

There has been note of an increase of incidence in UK childhood cancers (better detection? more children - is the change in the rate of cancers showing a similar increase?)

Re: TIZER'S SCIENCE NEWS

Dr Brian Cox said much the same thing on one of those recent BBC programmes recently (particulary the role of photons on carbon/hydrogen binds. But , what I find interesting is that the order the science thinks it should happen in, is pretty much the same as the Genesis Chap 1 order of things, which...

Re: POLITICS CORNER

The travel by train saga rolls on. What the 'in the bubble' people don't seem to appreciate is if you want to experience the trials and tribulations of an ordinary train customer you don't travel by aeroplane, chauffeur driven limousine, first class travel or even a 'reserved' seat. The initial int...

You could build 30 of Kenneth Baker's University Technical Colleges with £300 million. Well , they built/ equipped / staffed on in Burnley. Closing due to lack of students attending.... meanwhile in overcooking London more new high schools being built in inappropriate places (academys)(on industria...

for once, I think the USA was ahead of the EU, at least in recognising the problem, they may have already implemented a ban , not sure.

Keyword really be , before you(as in big industry), introduce a change, have a think about what the consequences might actually be.

I've re-read that bus blazoning and can see the confusion. I assume the £350m figure predominantly arises from Import Duties collected, which in a Customs Union are pooled up to a central point. It probably also covers the payment made on the basis of GDP (itself not a good indicator of tax cash ava...

the last council twit who decided on flat roof garages (better than corrigated fibre re-inforced sheeting though , or tin ), forgot to specify white reflective chips as a finish. So even the back is warmed a little too nicely, but then its too dark by 6 ish to see to well. I must learn how to proper...

I've been delivering stuff to some supposed wealthy areas of suburban surrey, there were a fair proportion of milk bottles ( and express/dairy crest badged white insulated recepticles ) out on doorsteps (ok porches). I guess early rising for the morning train and that milk, etc can be quite weighty ...

I'll agree to differ Stanley, I enjoyed what I watched. If you want a proper example of the abhorrent use of money in sport, £300 million to train hundreds of athletes for the Olympics pales into insignificance when you compare it with professional football. They spend a third of that on single pla...

Funny how the 'mistake' resulted in an overcharge...... I thought the Meter Serial Number was supposed to identify the CuFt or CuM measurement. Careless data input when changing companies, mine did it, after a red bill chasing after 10 days after I told them they billed incorrectly on-line, and no ...

House Prices, I don't know where alicejones is , but prices are generally a function of expected future earnings from residing at that location ( with premiums for being near a nice school/ good transport links etc ). So yes, being locked to a specific location, depending how much 'sweat equity' one...

I'll chip in at some time on council housing, although in bits of the North it is sometimes difficult to tell difference (externally) between private build, and that built by the likes of pit owners and into NCB days too, plus other major employers - I think the Potteries companies around Stoke on T...
