Re: POLITICS CORNER
First migrant has gone to Rwanda! In my book not really deported as he went voluntarily after receiving a bribe of £3000 in cash. He also went via a scheduled flight. I would also assume that as he went voluntarily he will be under no rules to stay, Effectively he is a tourist with money.

Re: POLITICS CORNER
My politics at the moment are involved with the local elections. I spent a good part of yesterday updating our electoral database with all of the new Polling Place information for the Pendle half of the constituency. The bits that have been shoved over into Burnley for the new Parliamentary Constitu...

Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
I forgot to mention I got the results from my follow up lung scan last week. All OK, no changes to the small nodule that they found on the first CT. I was told in the first letter that a 3 month follow up was prudent and if OK I would be off the radar as small nodules are quite common and nothing to...

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Looks like the main culprits were in the last few IP's I put in the Firewall rules that didn't load at the time because the site was saturated. Completing the loading looks like we are sorted for now. Why is it always the last ones you come to that does the trick? Sorry Wendy, you can never be the p...

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
By operational I meant it was working at the time I posted as it is now. If you look at the CPU trace I put up earlier you can see why the site is up and down. The graph is basically a square wave but the highs which flood the CPU are much longer duration than the lows which allows the site to funct...

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Site is operational this morning. I have checked the traces and the CPU is running at around 80% which is still too high and well above normal. We are no doubt still being hit with spam packets but I have given up trying to chase these. It's like flogging a dead horse, time consuming and very frustr...

So it was Stanley.
I was bit a bit brain muddled yesterday, with the site dropouts you had to do speed reading and replies.

The QI answer that would get the bells ringing is. It's a female spider!
I will add that it could probably give you a nasty bite.

Re: May I recommend. . .
Oh, a £400+ hair dryer from the Snake Oil Salesman! Pity folk are still duped into paying stupid prices for pseudo technology. Its a heater and a fan at the end of the day, other well established brands are available at around the £15 to £30 mark which do the same job. Stupid is as stupid does as Fo...

Yes and the questioner said that there were acts of genocide happening across the border from Rwanda into the Congo. The very reason that he is now living in the UK.

Kev is very good at ferreting the options out. Trying to find out what we can get for free as a start. There are subscription or paid options available also but no pricing yet. Spam blocking is probably very good business, probably replaced to some degree anti-virus threats. Apparently a Cloud Exper...

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
This is what we are up against. The graphs should be a relatively straight line somewhere up the scale when operating normally. CPU and Ram.JPG I have isolated and added to the firewall 16,903,955 IP addresses that are causing problems, that is roughly half of what is in the logs. All these belong t...

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
I have just managed to get this page up to reply after 15 minutes at least delay. This included 502 bad gateway and asking for my password. In the few times I've been able to get in recently I've had to enter my password. Is this due to the main problem or have we set it in an attempt to make it ha...

I posted what is below on the OneGuy Facebook Chat site that Wendy put up last week. Private site so you need to be invited or ask to join. Useful for discussing stuff when there are problems. Had a couple of emails to say that the server has now been migrated to the faster infrastructure. this was ...

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
No, requests on a traceroute are not making it to the proxy server that feeds our site. This is looking like a network infrastructure problem.
