Barlick "pop" at the Majestic did not begin until the early 1960's ( 1962 I think) and it ran on a Sunday afternoon. There may have been pop sessions on a Wednesday evening but the big acts came on the Sundays. Nolic

I attended there in the 50's when Doris Riding was headmistress. Mrs Lemon the wife of the Earby Station Master taught there as well as lovely Miss Ogden who had taught my dad when he attended. Not the best academically in the town but a very caring school. Nolic

As a nipper living on Garden Street I always remember the testing of the air raid sirens on a Saturday morning at 10.30. This went on until the late '50's. Nolic

My Bose has no treble control.....it doesn't need it as it picks up the full frequency range. It does have a bass control function which I set at mid-high range for TV and low when I play my iPod through it via Bluetooth. On another TV matter. Cath and I watched the last episode of Hard Sun on BBC1 ...

I got a good deal on a Bose. I think they are about £250 but they are top of the market. You can get other makes them much cheaper if you shop around.Nolic

Comments may have been made previously along these lines but I have resolved sound issues on programmes by buying and using a sound bar. Modern TV speakers are much smaller than earlier ones and cannot handle the quality of digital sound. A sound bar has resolved this for us. Nolic
