Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
I'm always interested to see this topic raised because it's very familiar to me... `Aphantasia: Why I cannot picture my children in my mind' LINK I've always had it but only realised when I became an adult and at the time it didn't have a name and nobody seemed to talk about it. I get fleeting glimp...

I wish that all those people who keep pressing modern organisations to make reparations for their alleged use of slavery in the past would instead turn their attention and energy to where it's happening now, in the 21st Century... `The Brazilian farm workers exploited to harvest an everyday ingredie...

Re: Wildlife Corner
I'd forgotten to mention this...a few weeks ago we looked out of the dining room window and there was a heron siting on the edge of our pond - and it's only a small pond, an area about the size of a desk. Luckily we have netting over it to keep the daft pigeons from trying to swim in it, so the hero...

Ask Bob to send it to you in a plain text email message or as a plain text (.txt) attachment. HTML emails are what Terry Pratchett would have called an embuggerance.

Re: COMPUTERS, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY
The text editor by default in Ubuntu is Gedit and has been for as long as I can remember. I've never had any problems with it and I use it a lot every day. I have seen unicode come up but only when it's my fault - for example trying to open an image file by mistake from the gedit file/folder tree or...

Re: COMPUTERS, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY
A couple of years ago we were walking home along our street and saw a man in his shirt sleeves and slippers standing in the middle of the road. As we got near him he asked us for help. He lived in the house alongside and had been trying on the phone to get his bank to help him with a problem. He cou...

It's about 11.00am now and so far we've spent this morning trying to sort out an unexpected charge on my credit card account. Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
Large stone balls have been found in many places. Sometimes they are with other ancient architecture and are there generally regarded as man-made although it's possible they were found and subsequently incorporated into the architecture. On the other hand, stone balls in a variety of sizes and forme...

I noted yesterday that he said that the suspects who had been captured were 'fleeing towards Ukraine'. Zelensky pointed out that trying to flee to the east and Ukraine would be suicidal because of all the military and police. They'd never make it out of Russia. Perhaps they did immediately go west;...

Re: FORGOTTEN CORNERS
That reminds me of the double garage my dad built with his brother when I was a kid. No telegraph poles but all scavenged timbers - there was a lot of it about in those days after the war. Later he got a space nearer to our house, took down an old single garage and rebuilt it on that bit of land.

I'm so cheesed off with both the current political world and the business world that I'm now wishing a government would come along and simply nationalise everything!
