Well done, Cathy! Gloria, you outsmarted us with that one. And to think of all the time I've looked in one of those toggles when making a knot to hold a new cord in place!

Re: Miscellaneous DIY Projects (or bits of jobs)
One of the 6ft fence posts between our garden and the neighbours was snapped at the base during the gales a few weeks ago. We dithered about getting it fixed because there are so many bushes there and access isn't easy. We didn't want big-booted fencers trampling over our shrubs. Then I heard we wer...

Re: Seen in the News
For a decade or more I've been boring people by telling them that we shouldn't be spending billions of pounds on searching for and mining more lithium whilst destroying the environment in the process. Instead we should spend the money on research to find ways of using readily available metals such a...

Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
My sister-in-law works part-time as a receptionist at her local GP surgery and she has plenty of stories of offensive customers, so that's another problem for the NHS. Also she ends up with dealing with people's other problems. She rang Mrs Tiz for their usual chat one evening last week and apologis...

I don't understand how Israel is being allowed to get away with its actions in Gaza. Indeed we are providing the weapons that are helping them cause the deaths, disease and famine. Our government can hide behind the fact that we provide only 0.04% of the military aid going to Israel (almost all of ...

Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
Recently I got a text from the GP's surgery asking me to contact them and make an appointment for a`medication review'. It said I should have one annually but I haven't had one for at least 20 years other than when I moved here and met my new GP! I rang and was given an appointment with Mahola. When...

Gosh Tize that’s so interesting….I can’t get my head around it, but very interesting. Can you picture your children, in your mind? That would be difficult, Cathy - we don't have any! We took a decision early on that we were both more interested in pursuing other aspects of our lives than in...

I'm always interested to see this topic raised because it's very familiar to me... `Aphantasia: Why I cannot picture my children in my mind' LINK I've always had it but only realised when I became an adult and at the time it didn't have a name and nobody seemed to talk about it. I'd forgotten to mention this...a few weeks ago we looked out of the dining room window and there was a heron siting on the edge of our pond - and it's only a small pond, an area about the size of a desk. Luckily we have netting over it to keep the daft pigeons from trying to swim in it, so the hero...

The text editor by default in Ubuntu is Gedit and has been for as long as I can remember. I've never had any problems with it and I use it a lot every day.
