Re: Today I shall be Mainly...

Traumatic day yesterday which is still running for today. First thing in the morning we woke to find the ceiling under the shower room had come adrift and succumb to the effects of gravity. . Ceiling 1.jpg Fortunately the carpet didn't suffer too much with most of the debris landing paper downwards ...

Re: POLITICS CORNER

Sunak appears to be a past master at telepathy. All the recent pronouncements first appear on the BBC, The Telegraph, The Express and a host of unknown mouth pieces. Anyone who contacts No10 about them is met with a blank response or outright denial. Then two days later Sunak mumbles something about...

Called in at the large supermarket on my doorstep. Names have been changed to protect the innocent. Searching for some cheapo spectacles none to be seen. Asked one of the workers if they had discontinued with them. No was his reply they keep moving the display around. Mind you they are bloody expens...

You hit the sweet spot in terms of this week's weather! (More wind forecast for the next two days....) Could this be cause and effect. I had blood pudding, fried eggs and mushy peas for breakfast, a tiny helping of chicken and veggies for dinner and a more substantial one for tea. I felt as though ...

The HS2 has all the hallmarks of one of Boris Johnson's fantasy projects. Sold on debatable logic that by knocking a hour or so off a Manchester / London journey would somehow regenerate the whole UK economy and with one mighty leap bring us level with the rest of the advanced countries in having a ...

I think my first trip to IOM was on the King Orry. years before stabilizers were deployed you had to pray for a calm crossing or have a cast iron stomach.
By the way Laxey is home to a Neolithic grave of King Orry . Never seen it myself in those days it was something I wasn't interested in.

The chatter is whether to hold a snap autumn election before things get worse. Promises of the rate of inflation falling like a stone is on the cards after the surprise massive drop of 0.1% . Waiting lists on the NHS are up but that's because of all those nasty doctors wanting more money. GDP is dow...

One thing is certain. The interminable debate about the effects of Cameron's Catastrophe, Brexit, will dominate the year to the exclusion of the really important matters like world-wide war, disease and famine. I can't help thinking that it is a smoke screen to hide what is really going on, mass ma...

With Starmer at the helm Labour looks like just another blue rinse conservative party which Bran...

I think we have already entered the electioneering warm up phase. Rishi Sunak is doing nothing new only to bat away his five star promises by shifting the blame to someone else. Strikes seem to be the favorite along with the weather and anything else he can dream up. Starmer is apparently responsibl...

I think Pendle have got their speed limits about right. Most 'A' roads and 'B' roads are 30 mph with nearly all the side streets 20 mph. Admittedly there are a number of nutters who ignore these limits and in some cases adjustments down to 20 may be needed. With the big hills we have locally I would...

This new variant isn't exactly rampant. 28 cases in one car home (Note the vaccine doesn't stop transmission) plus four cases in London and one in the North West. Not exactly a cause for panic.
