Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?

By operational I meant it was working at the time I posted as it is now. If you look at the CPU trace I put up earlier you can see why the site is up and down. The graph is basically a square wave but the highs which flood the CPU are much longer duration than the lows which allows the site to funct...

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?

Site is operational this morning. I have checked the traces and the CPU is running at around 80% which is still too high and well above normal. We are no doubt still being hit with spam packets but I have given up trying to chase these. It's like flogging a dead horse, time consuming and very frustr...

I was bit a bit brain muddled yesterday, with the site dropouts you had to do speed reading and replies. :extrawink:

Re: May I recommend. . .

Oh, a £400+ hair dryer from the Snake Oil Salesman! Pity folk are still duped into paying stupid prices for pseudo technology. Its a heater and a fan at the end of the day, other well established brands are available at around the £15 to £30 mark which do the same job. Stupid is as stupid does as Fo...

Yes and the questioner said that there were acts of genocide happening across the border from Rwanda into the Congo. The very reason that he is now living in the UK.

Kev is very good at ferreting the options out. Trying to find out what we can get for free as a start. There are subscription or paid options available also but no pricing yet. Spam blocking is probably very good business, probably replaced to some degree anti-virus threats. Apparently a Cloud Exper...

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?

This is what we are up against. The graphs should be a relatively straight line somewhere up the scale when operating normally. CPU and Ram.JPG I have isolated and added to the firewall 16,903,955 IP addresses that are causing problems, that is roughly half of what is in the logs. All these belong t...

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?

I have just managed to get this page up to reply after 15 minutes at least delay. This included 502 bad gateway and asking for my password. In the few times I've been able to get in recently I've had to enter my password. Is this due to the main problem or have we set it in an attempt to make it ha...

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?

I posted what is below on the OneGuy Facebook Chat site that Wendy put up last week. Private site so you need to be invited or ask to join. Useful for discussing stuff when there are problems. Had a couple of emails to say that the server has now been migrated to the faster infrastructure. this was ...

No, requests on a traceroute are not making it to the proxy server that feeds our site. This is looking like a network infrastructure problem.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?

For the record the 502 errors seem to be intermittent. The is an additional problem in that the admin console used to update the firewall is not accepting updates. Could be a problem at the IONOS end but there are no messages to that effect. There are a number of Amazon Web Servers that are hitting ...

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS

When we updated the LTP I installed it on another instance of the phpBB forum software that the live site runs on. We did that on Stephens server space, that allowed us to embed all the pictures in context in the project. In the old version of the LTP they were only available as a separate download....

Aye isn't technology wonderful? After my op I had no motor functions at all from head to foot down my right side. Spring cleaning stuff. Made a start on jet washing the yard. Sally wants her new mini greenhouse setting up which has a knock on to other jobs. Its sits against our neighbours kitchen wall, and as that is the full length of our yard we look after the stone paint on it, brilliant white. Our backyard ...

The bill has been fiercely criticised by opposition parties but after several debate...

I had a new 27mm cows tissue valve fitted at the end of July in Leeds General Infirmary (a place that I know Ian is familiar with) and felt nearly back to normal a couple of months later. A damning report - we know the smart motorways are dangerous, here's more evidence, yet National Highways denies there is anything wrong. Think Post Office, Grenfell, water companies, Rwanda etc etc. What's gone wrong with the people who are supposed to be running our country? It's like they live o...
