Still reading it. I think it's a bit different but it is certainly keeping my attention.

I am finding it really tough going, only manage a few pages every night. I have not yet been gripped enough to stay awake reading till all hours. Does it improve?

Sue and Wendy----no to both questions.
I found it really hard work, kept expecting it to improve but it didn't, not in my opinion anyway. Also, I thought this cannot go on as it is and there must be something of a twist near the end, wrong. It did nothing for me, but I persevered.

How are you doing with the book Wendy. I find it rather tedious and am only half way through. It sends me to sleep most nights. I have started scan reading. There is too much description for me and not enough story. I don't like the way it jumps forwards and backwards by many years and each chapter is a different year or person centred. Ask me to name the characters and I would struggle, they have such odd names, and I struggle to remember how they fit into the story. That is not the sign of a good book. Amazon has mixed reviews, you either love it or hate it. Some rave over all the description , I just find it boring.

I settled down with it on a wet afternoon last week and got into it a bit better. It doesn't work if you just try to read a chapter at a time as you quickly lose track of what's going on and who is who. I'm about half way through too, but determined to finish it.

I wish I could. I struggle to read more than a few pages at a time and now I am scan reading to get to the end. It's just not my sort of book, or my style of book. Too much jumping around.

Finished! I quite enjoyed it once I got going. I used to enjoy reading fantasy novels 20 or so years ago and it struck me that I would have loved reading it then.
