Do you remember dropping priory mill in Droylsden? And, ' carry on to Oldham for the last couple of hours of the day!' Cheeky b*****d! Nearly killed! Take care, speak soon!

Dunny, you've reminded me of a friend of mine, a driver who finished early one day and his gaffer asked him if he couldn't find something to do. He said he wasn't in the habit of looking for work so his boss said 'You'd better start practising then". He went in the office and came out with his cards. Those were the days!

I know they needed to go but a falling stack always makes me sad, all that work lifting all those bricks up into the sky..... All right, I'm an old softy....

Just in case anyone popping in here thinks that Tom and his mates do nothing but knock mills and chimneys down, here's the new top on Ellenroad chimney at Peter Tatham and Tom built in 1987.

Yes it was when they did the repoint, bands and oiling. But it was still your work on the drum. When Brooke Edgeley's man first laddered the stack he said that he'd like to meet the men who built the new head, he was most impressed. This from another jack is praise indeed.
