A Night of Gatsby Glamour for Audrey

I have put this in here as the group is the beneficiary for the event.

Here we are suited and booted shortly after arrival, we brush up fairly well I reckon. :extrawink:

The place was rammed with a good proportion of Barlick's 30 somethings so no surprise that Fanjango the band we have seen before as a Gypsy Jazz combo with fiddle and guitar came as a five piece in this incarnation with two acoustic guitars, sax, double bass and drums. No Charleston's in sight but the dance floor was packed all night with their eclectic mix of Jazz Rock.

Most folk made a proper effort to dress with the style of the times, girls better than the guys which goes without saying, some stunning outfits on show.

Red 18 Casino was very popular in the session before the band came on. I won on the horse racing managing to select the 20/1 outsider twice. I came away from the horses with about $80,000 but lost most on the blackjack table. I put my last $20,000 on the roulette table on an all or bust 36/1 single 11 and lost. The lad that won managed to accumulate $1.2M from his original 5 grand that we all started with. He won a day at the dogs for 6 people

Middle of the evening between the band sessions was the auction, some serious bidding for stuff as diverse as signed football shirts to 4x4 off road experiences. I hope the lad that thought he was bidding on a helicopter flight enjoys his top of range silver cross pram that he actually won, he paid £320 for it. A lot of the items auctioned went for similar amounts.

Supper was mini fish and chips which went down well. It was fine, just, when we left the event at about half past midnight, we had driven down and taken better footwear for the walk home. we had light rain on the way home but nothing too bad.

Loads of pictures of the event here on the Bosom Friends Facebook site and on lots of other local folks time lines. A smashing event overall which will have raised a bob or two for the group. Thanks have to go to Audrey's daughters and their mates who organised the night, their mum would have loved it.

Worth posting that the event raised £8250.42 for Barnoldswick and Earby Bosom Friends, well done to the girls who organised it.

Indeed Stanley, it will help the refurbishment of our piece of Green Street WMC along nicely.
