You will need to set the type of video or its extension type in the drop down box of the Insert Web Video icon in the editor (last one on the bottom row). Then the location of the file in the link box below. The site has filters for most types of video files and also for files hosted on other sites such as YouTube, the site defaults to this in the top drop down.

Oh heck sound complicated. I don't know what the file type is on my iPad. Will have to play around and see.mthanks for the info.

Just had a quick Google and it looks like the Ipad records in MP4 H.264 format. Most Apple devices use proprietary Audio and Video filetypes. The phpBB platform that the site is built on supports MP4 in the editor box, try setting it to that and see if it will run the file when you post. You have another hurdle though in that the editor does assume that the file is located on some form of hosting site such as Youtube or Vimeo (many more to choose from) which will give it a fixed location in cyberspace. It will probably not run otherwise.

Sue sent it to me but I know when I am beaten. Apart from anything else the orientation is wrong... I have chickened out and forwarded it to Ian..... (Sorry Ian!)

I don't know how you'd do this on an Ipad but if I had the same problem on my PC I'd get the offending photo up on screen and then make a screenshot of it. That way you've got a completely new image which should then be easy to rotate permanently.

Trouble is it's a video clip and I have no idea why the orientation is wrong. We also send it to a French friend whose daughter turned it round for him. I have checked on the iPad forum about this orientation problem but their solution does not work. This problem seems to be very random. I always hold the iPad in portrait position and the right way up is on off button at the bottom.

I have done a screen shot on one image and rotated it ( screen shot is easy on the iPad ) but of course it is not a video now. Has the image rotated correctly.

No, it's still upside down. I did a Google search on `ipad video upside down' and I see people saying "make sure to hold your iPad on its side with the Home button on the right" when taking the video".

I know it doesn't help with your video but here's the still after I took a screen shot and rotated it. At least we can see this picture (I hope!).

I have tried that Tiz. Some people got it the right way up, others upside down and others on the side. I did a trial with a friend sending him pictures taken all ways and there was no logic to it. Like now, I definitely turned the picture through 180 degrees and yet you say it appears wrong on your screen.

Our three year old grand daughter couldn't believe her eyes. Does grandpa have his own train just for us and Erin?

Wonderful Sue, well worth the wait! How long is the track?

Re: Garden Railway

It's about 150 feet at the moment . The whole circuit be about 450 when it's done, then there may be additions after that. Getting the rails and getting them over here takes time. Bob has bought a number from eBay. The ground has to be weed killed, dug out and lined with heavy duty plastic. The soil is tough to dig and invariably has to be weed killed more than once due to time lapses between our visits.

"there may be additions after that"
Almost certainly if I know model railway engineers! Newton told a good story about visiting an old friend in the West Country... He only had room in the back garden for one straight length of line. When they visited they found him and his wife digging a tunnel under the bungalow so they could have a circuit for non-stop running! So be thankful for small mercies!

A bit of an update. Tbe track is two thirds of the way round and we have enough bits to complete the circuit although there will be a slight deviation as one pear tree is in the way! We have been trying to establish a living willow tunnel and at last we have shooting willows on both sides of the track. This has taken two seasons plus.

We will then plant clematis montana to cover the whole. Waiting for the willows has held things up but this week major progress was made.
