Weets

Post by bjg1987 »

Hello to all who come across this. I need advice on potentially planting a potted horse chestnut tree I've had for a couple of years. It's getting too big for a pot and wanted to put it on the way up occy lane. All advice welcome. Thank you

Find a sheltered spot and pray! Put something under it for it to feed on. The old gardeners recommended a dead cat.....

Trees that have been in pots for a while usually have their roots running round the side of the pot. This will restrict any future growth. Tease the roots out and get them pointing a radially as possible. Try to find a replanting spot that has a good depth of soil and is reasonably moist without becoming too waterlogged. Water it in the best you can. You may need some help from your friends but please be discrete and keep bragging to a minimum. I'll leave it to others to suggest a good location.
