Lovely cold and sunny day today. Looks like milder with rain for the next few days. Oh well that's our British weather.

Bright cold day yesterday but cold and raining this morning. Glass fallen back to 29.5". It's cold nasty rain and I think a westerly breeze.
Up an hour early this morning because of the clocks changing. Could have rolled over and had another hour but that wouldn't be fair on my mate Jack. His clock hasn't changed and he expects his early morning pee six hours after he goes to bed.
PS. Don't forget you need to go into your control; panel and disable Daylight Saving manually to get GMT on your posts.
Hurricane Sandy isn't a particularly violent hurricane but it's big and is going to be complicated by hitting a big cold front in the Mid West of the US. The East coast is bracing itself for a long spell of high winds and heavy rain. We don't have that problem in Barlick so cheer up! There are good things about our weather.....

Cold damp day yesterday with frequent showers of very cold rain. The low that is bringing the rain in originated near Iceland and it felt like it. This morning the flags are damp but drying out. Glass is back to almost 29.2" so it looks like a similar unsettled day.
Hurricane Sandy is not the most severe storm but is enormous, it's about 800 miles across and is being blocked by a cold front in the Mid West so they are expecting it to last longer than usual. One of the advantages about having a maritime climate and being relatively small is that we don't get these enormous events. Lots to be thankful for as we 'suffer' cold showers. I've sat under tornado cells that were quite enormous and watched them develop, exciting stuff as long as they pass over you!

Not a bad early part of the day yesterday but cold rain later. Glass steady at 29.2". Flags were dry at 4am but I've just popped my head out and we have a fine, cold mizzle. Deep Joy!

Yesterday was re-run of Monday but perhaps slightly less evening rain. Glass is dropping fast and is almost at 28.6". Light rain and more wind outside at the moment. Unsettled weather and I wore my scarf for the first time this year yesterday. Damp penetrating cold.
05:30 forecast gives wind up to 60mph for us later in the day. Deep Joy!

Random cold showers yesterday. Glass has fallen even further, almost down at 28.2", very low. Cold and dry outside at the moment but the odds are that some heavy rain is coming in.

Glass has risen a bit to 28.5" but there is some wild weather round our coasts. Fireworks curtailed because of weather? If so, good. Jack will be pleased!
Later after our walk. There must have been more rain last night than I thought, the weir at Butts has a heavy flow coming over it. Bright morning but a cold wind, made worse by the fact that it's damp. Funny thing is that it looks to me like a brewing day and I wouldn't be surprised to see a few flakes of snow if it was just a bit colder.

Glass is up to 28.7" this morning, cold and dry outside but I am praying for a repeat of yesterday when some very black clouds came over bringing heavy showers. If it starts at about 18:00 and carries on till midnight it will curtail the fireworks. And yes, you're right, I am thinking of the poor animals not the kids! They'll still get their thrill but the sooner the fireworks are done the better!

Forecast in the paper is for heavy rain, snow on hills and chance of a thunderstorm - in fact it is bright and sunny. Our glass is now up at 29.

Frosty morning but dry. Glass up slightly to 28.9". Snowed a little in the Mendips yesterday. Certainly feels cold enough for it this morning!

Bit late up this morning so we've had our walk. Dry, no wind and a herd frost. Glass is up at 29.2" so it looks like a settled cold spell. Thank God for the CH and stove, they are looking after me.

Lovely crisp morning here with a nice frost. Saturday was especially lovely though - very clear from the beach over to Wales and the snow on the Snowdon range beyond the coastal hills. Lovely that - yellow sand, blue sea and white mountain tops.

Cold morning again, CH cracked on at 02:00 which is earliest yet. Glass still rising, over 29.5" this morning. Still looks like settled cold weather. As Moh says, things could be worse!
Later: Just back from our walk and it isn't freezing at the moment but must have been earlier on because there are occasional patches of black ice on the pavements. Weather is warmer in the North and it looks as though this is working its way South.

First frosty morning and after the coldest night so far (just below zero) for here in south Somerset. Rain in the last few days has flooded the fields of the Levels, much earlier than in normal winters, and the waters will probably have a covering of ice this morning. In the past, the locals used to skate on the frozen Levels in winter.

Feels like they may be doing this year if the forecasts are anything to go off, I remember seeing skaters on Foulridge reservoir (including braziers on the ice) when I was a little girt. We used to slide on the Dotcliffe Mill dam, I reckon that must have been 1947.

Moh's right, yesterday was very gloomy and drizzly, never actually got round to proper rain but definitely an indoors day if you could manage it! Glass has risen slightly to 29.7". I haven't the faintest idea what this means! Most likely a re-run of yesterday but perhaps slightly brighter.

We have had a good week in Brittany so far. Sunny after foggy mornings, and temperatures about 12C. Lots of gardening has been done, even in a t shirt!
