Janet had a good morning for her walk up Beamsley Beacon yesterday morning but the cold rain came in in the afternoon and evening. Windy and wet out there this morning and cold with it. Glass is almost up at 29.3", indicates that we could possibly be moving into some settled colder but dryer weather. The forecast is for wet and windy until dinnertime with a fresh west wind, dryer later and a possible high of 5C. I'd say that this is a bit pessimistic, I think it will be dryer than the forecast.
08:20. We went out a bit later to get some light. A dry, very windy and bracing morning! Thank God for the Crombie! I've just realised it's the shortest day tomorrow... The sun will rise tomorrow at about 08:25 and will set at about 15:35. After that the days start to lengthen again. Yippee! Mind you, 'As the days lengthen, the cold strengthens'. You can't win 'em all,,,,

The shortest day has started damp and cold. Glass is dead on 29". Forecast is the same as yesterday, a good chance of rain all day. The wind is still brisk but has shifted into the SW and so we have an expected high of 10C today, a topcoat warmer than yesterday.

07:00. back from our walk, no point waiting for it to get light. Dry and not a lot of wind yet, Quite mild and some birds were singing even though it is dark. On with the day....
