It's a lot calmer this morning, a bit warmer too.

It was indeed warmer yesterday, the car showed it as 10 degrees, 2 degrees up on Wednesday. I can see bits of blue sky this morning but it's cooler again. Hopefully we'll get a late burst of warm weather in October, could do with a short break away ;-)

Current weather of sunshine and showers and cooling down a tad as we head to Autumn. The seasons are not as clearly defined now but what we have at the moment is fairly typical of late Summer. We had some very warm weather earlier in the year and on the whole I don't think we have done too bad.

9 degrees on the way to Bolton at 08:00, sun is shining through the window at the minute. A lunchtime walk is on the cards :-)

Why do we have to have 2 weather threads? The seasonal one has worked well for a long time, we also mention weather that is happening or has happened. If we want a forecast we can find it else where. Also Pennine weather only covers local when members come from far and wide and it it nice to hear about their weather.

A few thought that we should abandon our four regular season changes around the Equinoxes and Solstices in favour of either the Meteorological seasons which run about 3 weeks premature of the planetary seasons for convenience and statistical purposes or just have an overall weather topic. Stanley seems to favour the latter. As folk are still posting in the proper seasons topic I will continue to ring the changes at the appropriate time, Autumn is nearly upon us but it hasn't started yet despite some feeling that it is already Winter.

One thread, 4 seasons created and locked as now. In my world with the heretical meteorological seasons......

If this is still (technically) summer - and I've just looked up solstices - someone somewhere needs to 'have a word'.

It's a lovely clear blue sky at the moment and the tree isn't moving so it must be calm too :-). No idea what the temperature is, the car will tell me on the way to the office.

Update: 1.5 degrees and patchy fog, an interesting commute :biggrin2:

Looking out of the window this morning one would be forgiven for thinking that it was the middle of Summer. Not so, today is the last day of Summer and Autumn is beckoning. The Autumn Equinox occurs this morning so it's time to finish this topic and roll on to the next.
