Yesterday was chilly but dry apart from a very light occasional spatter. At 21:00 the cloud was broken, light ENE wind, cool and dry. This morning was the same with well broken cloud and a very light frost, still the same but perhaps more cloud cover. The glass is up at 1006mb. The forecast is for a mainly bright overcast day. Chance of a snow shower around 9AM and again in mid-afternoon but otherwise dry. The wind is in the north at the moment but will settle as a moderate easterly for the rest of the day. High of 5C and a low of 1C with a wind chill of 2 to 4C all day depending on wind strength. The forecast for tomorrow is for a wet/snowy day and the following day temperatures in double figures.
06:20. A quiet walk, almost calm as the N wind gives way to the E wind which will be with us all day. The cloud is breaking slightly and the early frost has gone. Dry and pleasant. This will do!

Quiet day yesterday but by the time I was coming home from Earby at 21:30 it was much colder, overcast and occasional flakes of snow in the light rain.... This morning it's cold and light snow is falling but not sticking at the moment, the effective temperature with wind chill is -6C. The glass is down at 998mb. The forecast is for heavy overcast and constant snow/rain all day until midnight when a change comes in. The constant brisk wind is easterly and the high and low is 3C. There will be a wind chill starting at 6C and gradually reducing to 4C. At around midnight the wind will swing into the south and temperatures will start to rise, tomorrow will be much warmer, in double figures.
06:15. We've had a wintry walk. Constant light snow on a wind that hasn't quite got going yet. The snow is beginning to stick on surfaces that are not actually swimming in water. On the whole, it is dark, wet and wintry! If you can, stay out of it.

We were lucky Wendy. The snow never settled really and had turned to rain by late morning. At 21:00 it was calm and raining, same this morning at the moment. The glass has fallen to 983mb. The forecast is for mid-morning rain and showers and sunny intervals after that. The constant moderate SW wind gives a high of 11C and a low of 6C tonight. Wind chill is low at 2C. Outlook is for the milder weather to continue.
06:00. Back home after a damp but not wet walk. The moderate SW wind is mild and carries fine mizzle on it. My rain gauge in Butts tells me that a lot of rain fell yesterday, Butts Beck is running quite high. We need to start drying out a bit........

Yesterday was a mild day as promised but with odd showers to keep things damp. Light rain in the evening as well. First thing this morning, light wind, broken cloud with a visible moon and damp but not raining. At the moment we have light rain. The glass started to rise late yesterday afternoon but only reached 985mb. The forecast is for a rainy day, a shower any time and heavy overcast. The wind is light and boxes the compass, it is going to be swinging about all day. The High is 10C and the low -1C tonight. A wind chill of 2C all day.
06:10. No two ways about it, it has been a mild wet walk in steady rain. Surprisingly, despite the 100% overcast, lighter than usual. Jack had an early bath but is rubbed down now with a dry towel and feeling no pain!

Yesterday was wet. The Green has standing water on it. At 21:00 last night it was cool with a light breeze and rain. This morning we have a clear sky and it is dry. We have a ridge of high pressure coming in and the glass is up at 1002mb. The forecast is for a dry sunny day. The wind starts as a moderate westerly but later in the day swings into the SE. The high will be 8C and the low 0C. There will be a 3 to 4C wind chill. Today is the wedding day and it looks as though it is going to be OK!
05:55. Back after a dry and bracing walk. The wind is cold and a frost has developed since 4AM. The bonus is that it's coming light early. What me mother used to call 'healthy weather'. I have decided to wear a Damart vest under me finery!

Yesterday was one out of the bag, wall to wall sunshine all day but with a sneaky wind. At 21:00 last night it was still dry with a light cold wind. First thing this morning it was almost calm, 100% overcast and dry. We've been to the butcher's and by the time we were walking home it was daylight, dry, a cool fresh breeze but rapidly clearing skies. So far not a bad morning. The glass rose yesterday to 1010mb but this morning is falling and is back at 1007mb. The forecast is for a dry, bright, overcast day. The ESE wind is constant and moderate for most of the day giving a high of 11C and a low tonight of 7C with a wind chill of 3C. The outlook is for similar weather for the next week, this is quiet April weather and might give the ground a chance to dry out and soil temperatures rise. The lawn-mowing season is not far away now!

Another dry day yesterday but the wind was thin, it was very cold if you were out in it. At 21:00 it was calm and very mild, probably the warmest night all winter. This morning it's the same, dry, calm and mild. The glass is down a bit on 1001mb. The forecast is for it to start raining around 8AM and to be wet until early evening. The wind is very light and starts in the SW, it will then cover all points of the compass before ending up in the west again late tonight. The High is 10C and the low 6C, another mild day with very little wind chill. No cold weather in the outlook, could things be improving slightly?
06:10. What's not to like? Calm, Dry, Mild with broken cloud and a visible moon. Daylight came early and the birds are singing their hearts out. It's a good morning and it wouldn't surprise me if we had less rain than the forecast.

Yesterday was as I suspected, better than the forecast but was still a damp day. At 21:00 it was calm, mild, overcast and very light rain. This morning it's calm, mild, overcast and dry. The glass is very steady, it has risen slightly to 1002mb. The forecast is for a dry, bright, overcast day. The wind is very light and swings about between WNW and north all day but with negligible wind chill. The high is 10C and the low 3C. The outlook for the next week is for very similar settled weather. There may be a chance of soil warming!
06:00. A pleasant walk. Calm, Mild, Overcast but dry and a slight mist. This and better will do!

That's one of the great advantages of your weather Maz.....
Yesterday was a nice day mainly because the very light wind ensured we had no wind chill worth mentioning and if there had been more sun it would have been balmy. At 21:00 it was calm, light broken cloud, mild and dry. This morning first thing it was calm, not cold and foggy. This fog was still about when we went for our walk at 05:45 and it was overcast making it feel damp but on the whole a pleasant walk. The glass is almost unchanged, up slightly at 1005mb. The forecast is for a dry bright day with good sun but rain coming in from 20:00 onwards. The wind is extremely variable in strength, it is generally easterly and will vary from calm to light moderate. The High will be 12C and the low tonight 5C with very little wind chill. From the general forecast we are getting the best of the day. Today, west is best!

The mist was slow to clear yesterday but when it did we had a good day. At 21:00 it was overcast and there was very light rain on the wind. This morning it was the same. The glass is down on 998mb. The forecast is for light rain until mid=morning and then heavy overcast and fog for the rest of the day. The wind is a constant moderate NE, a high of 8C and a low of 6C. We start with a 4C wind chill but that decreases to 2C late tonight.
06:00. We've had a reasonable walk which included Jack having a good run with his whippet mate in Valley Gardens. The wind is chilly if you get the full force but when you're in sheltered ground it's quite mild. Heavy overcast makes the light less but as we came back I noted a break in the cloud far off to the east. The rain was negligible, light and intermittent. I've seen far worse mornings at this time of year.

It was a gloomy day yesterday and we had the forecast rain in the morning. At 21:00 last night it was overcast, mild and dry. This morning it was the same first thing and now as I write. The glass is up at just below 1005mb. The forecast is for a dry day but heavy overcast and fog early and late. The wind is constant, light to moderate and ENE. The high is 8C and the low 5C with a wind chill of about 4C for most of the day. Not exciting but a general improvement. The outlook is for broadly the same.....
06:05. A quiet and pleasant walk. The NE wind is chilly but it was coming light at 05:30, it's dry and relatively mild. I have seen much worse. There is no fog and there are some breaks in the cloud to the NE, it could be better than forecast.
I note this morning that the grass cutting season has started.

The day was brighter than forecast yesterday but still cloudy and that East wind was nippy. At 21:00 it was breezy, cool and dry with 100% overcast. The same this morning but a bit more wind. The glass is down slightly at 1003mb. The forecast is almost exactly the same as yesterday, heavy overcast all day but very little chance of rain. The wind is a constant moderate ENE and the high will be 7C and the low 5C with a wind chill of 4C all day. Slightly cooler but still settled weather. We are at the time of year when it isn't uncommon for this East wind to last for a long time holding the growth back. As soon as it breaks, the grass will stand a chance.....
06:00. An uneventful dry walk. 100% overcast, daylight a bit slower to appear, a chilly wind when you are exposed to it. This is settled weather and no prospect of any change.

We had some light rain about teatime and it was the same at 21:00. First thing this morning it was the same, the odd spot of rain in the wind but perhaps not quite as cold. The glass is down slightly on 999mb. The forecast is for rain until 07:00 and perhaps a light shower early afternoon but apart form that dry and heavily overcast. The wind is very light all day and all over the place but mainly a westerly later. The high is 8C and the low 6C with less wind chill, never more than 2C. The outlook is for it to start warming up dramatically.......
06:40. We were back in after a wet walk, the rain wasn't heavy and was intermittent but Jack needed a good rub down when we got home. The main difference from yesterday is the fact that the bitter East wind could have lost its battle. Good! It will feel much warmer today and next week looks good. The grass may start to move Wendy!

Damp later in the day yesterday, still light rain at 21:00. This morning it's mild, overcast and the flags are damp but drying. The glass is rising and up on 1009mb. The forecast is good, a dry bright day with some sun. Light south winds all day, high of 13C and low of 7C with negligible wind chill. The outlook is for it to get even milder, we may have turned a corner!
06:00. Best morning walk this year so far. I almost went without the Crombie and it would have been OK. Almost calm, mild, 100% light overcast and dry. The birds in Valley Gardens are singing their hearts out. This feels like a big change in the season but then again, we have been caught out before!

Yesterday afternoon was nice, light mild breeze, fluffy broken cloud and sunny spells. At 21:00 the sky was clear, still almost daylight, mild and dry with a very light breeze. This morning is the same but with light broken cloud. The glass is steady but down a touch at 1007mb. The forecast is for it to be dry and bright overcast until afternoon when we shall have some rain. The wind is E or ESE light to moderate giving a high of 11C and a low of 8C tonight. Slight wind chill but otherwise what looks like a growy day, first one this year! The outlook is for it to get warmer. This looks more and more like a change of season......
05:45. I was out early. The light East wind is cool but no problem. There's a slight mist and the cloud coming in from the East shows signs of breaking. Despite the cloud it was light enough in Valley Gardens for an old bloke with bad eyesight to be able to see a black dog with ease. We met my neighbour Brian walking his greyhound, apart from that nobody about until we got to the town centre. Something's going on, there's a police van in Newtown and a car prowling about on Rainhall Road. Then I saw Rick Starkey setting off for work at Foulridge on his bike, hard man!
One other piece of information. I have put the Crombie back in the wardrobe ready for next year! I wore my light padded Hogg jacket and didn't die of exposure.... I hope this isn't a Rain Dance....

It never did clear up properly and the rain came in after dinner as forecast. At 21:00 we had a very light mild West wind and it was damping. This morning it's raining. The glass is down on 1000mb. The forecast is for the rain to stop any time around 5AM and for a bright overcast day, dry with some sunny spells. The Wind will be a constant mild and moderate SW all day giving a high of 13C and a low of 9C tonight. Warming up nicely and it gets better over the next few days!
05:55. The forecast was right, the rain ceased at about 5AM. The west wind is mild and there is broken cloud coming in so it may hold. Fingers crossed, Wednesday could be summer and Thursday will be even warmer. The birds in Valley Gardens have got the message, they are singing their hearts out! Watch out for swallows.....

Good day yesterday. Lovely big fluffy clouds and sunshine after dinner. Last night at 21:00 it was dry, clear, calm and fresh. This morning it's the same, I think the sky is clear but can't really tell. The glass is rising and is on 1005mb. The forecast is for it to be overcast but dry until about 10:00 and then rain for the rest of the day until dark. The constant moderate southerly wind will give us 12C for a high and 11C for a low tonight. Bit of a wind chill but don't despair, during the night it gets geared up and we have some good sun on the way for the rest of the week! Get the shorts and the sun block out.
The Shipping Forecast was as always, informative. There is a vigorous low coming in from the Atlantic and this is what is giving us rain today. There are lots of gale warnings in Western waters. At the same time there is a high pressure system forcing its way up from the south. The clue is in the South wind, this high is going to prevail and that's what is going to give us the good weather over the next few days. We were back in before 6AM after a pleasant walk. The wind is fresh but mild and bringing broken cloud in. It's dry and the birds are loving it, they are singing their hearts out. A good morning.
