Only light rain yesterday afternoon but 100% cloud cover from then on to the end of the day. At 20:00 it was dry and calm but overcast. First thing this morning we had very heavy rain, It's still raining but not quite as heavily. The glass is down on 989mb and falling. The forecast is for heavy rain to persist until late this afternoon. The moderate wind is variable until noon, west north and east but then settles to a westerly for the rest of the day giving a high of 15C and a low of 12C with a -3C chill. The 5 day outlook is for cool cloudy weather but perhaps dryer.

No sooner did I do that and it started raining again. I ignored it and it was never serious rain. I got a bacon butty with brown sauce and sat on Town Square to people watch while I ate it.

You could do worse. Reminded me of my visit in October 2018. Indulge me - here it is again.

I arrived in Barnoldswick about 3.30 pm, and parked as usual in the Coop. Satnav isn't too good when the destination is a street, that you can't actually drive down . I thought the Guru might still be having his siesta, so went for a little walk round the town. I walked into the square, and a shopkeeper who was winding up a blind said 'how do' - that wouldn't happen in Cambridge!. I said 'it's quiet '- he said that's because Tuesday is half day, and almost implied I should have known. I then walked into the square, and there was literally not another person in sight - a very weird experience and bit spooky if I'm honest.

Not everywhere was closed though, and I went into Victoria's Tea Room for a snack. Just a Cheese and Onion sandwich with garnish. Never had a salad with fruit in it before, but it comes under the heading of 'don't knock it till you've tried it' . There was chopped strawberry, a grape, a quarter of a slice of orange and a scattering of pomegranate plus the usual tomato cucumber and leaves.

If Carlsberg did sandwiches. . . .

Strolled back to the Coop, and picked up the 'care package ' - up the steps in the middle of the wall in the car park - along Cooperative Street - turn right, then left and in the green gate with a latch that has obviously been designed and built by a fitter. Let Jack get to know me again.

We then put the world to rights for a while - very enjoyable. I wouldn't let him open the box till I'd gone. Mainly because I'd mischievously packed it out with half a dozen recent copies of The Spectator' and wished to be elsewhere when he saw them. No Thomas Picketty in there. The selfie is the first I've ever done - and could well be the last. I was going to caption it 'Finalists for the North West scrawny neck competition' but thought better of it .

Kev, it's time you had your eyes tested again!
Yesterday was an overcast procession of showers with a bit of sun late on. At 20:00 it was calm dry and we had low sun. This morning there has been a recent shower but we have some clear sky over to the east of us and at the moment it's dry. The glass is up (!) on 998mb. The forecast says it is raining and will change to overcast with sunny intervals later this morning. The constant moderate westerly winds will give a high of 18C and a low of 12C with a -2C chill later. The five day outlook is for mixed weather, no sudden burst of sun. It is after all Barlick holidays. :biggrin2:

Yesterday the afternoon brightened and at 20:00 we had low sun under the cloud. First thing this morning it was calm and clear, I think it's still clear but valley mist to the East. The glass is up on 1012mb. The forecast is for a dry sunny day. The constant light to moderate west wind gives us a high of 19C and a low of 11C with a wind chill of -2C in the afternoon. The five day outlook is for similar mixed weather, no heat wave!

Yesterday was clouded for much of the day and it was no different at 20:00, calm, dry and clouded. Same first thing this morning. The glass is up a touch on 1017mb. The forecast is for a dry but cloudy day until this evening. The westerly wind is constant and very light giving us a high of 19C a low of 14C and negligible wind chill. The 5 Day outlook is for mixed cloud, sunshine and possible showers. Take your pick!
05:45. I poked my nose outside to have a look at the rabbit. Very still morning, mild, high broken cloud and nothing at all exciting!

Yesterday was a nice afternoon and it was still dry and sunny at 20:00. This morning first thing there was evidence of a recent light shower and it was overcast, I've just looked outside and it's calm, dry and still overcast. The glass is down on 1013mb. The forecast is cloudy changing to sunshine and showers this afternoon. The light easterly wind gives a high of 20C and a low of 14C with a negligible wind chill. The five day outlook is for similar mixed weather, no high summer in sight yet...
