Pleasant day yesterday, got to about 11C but light rain started in the evening. Glass has fallen to 29.2" and at 4am the flags in the backyard were dry but a few spots of rain were falling. It is raining steadily now. Bank Holiday?

Back from our walk. Steady but not heavy rain, not cold. No wind so this system is slow moving and it looks as though it could rai steadily till at least noon. Not a bad day and we could do with the rain.

London , must be a Bank Holiday , rained all day , though the local magpie was indecided on lengths of fallen twigs that might be useful to him whilst another bird twittered mournfully , heavilly overcast but 11deg to 9deg , tellyvision extremely missing of much of interest.

Moh, it rained steadily all day here apart from abating somewhat at noon. Then resumed. Gardens well watered! Glass down at 28.6" this morning, lowest it has been for a long time. Breezy and still raining. Feels colder but this may be due to the wind. Not a nice morning.

Butts Beck running a banker this morning. The steady rain over the last 36 hours has definitely done good, the feeders into the Embsay reservoirs will be just as full. Patches of blue sly but accompanied by heavy black rain showers. April showers!

Still showery, it's raining at the moment. Glass has risen slightly to just over 29". Looks like the same again today.

Dry at 4am but a light shower since. Colder I think. Glass is 29.3" and tending to rise. Forecast suggests we are going to lose the showers but it's going to get colder. That feels about right.

Very heavy shower with hailstones, thunder and lightning followed me from Barlick back to Nelson in the late afternoon. Temperature dropped by several degrees. :cool4:

We had thunder and lightning with a brief hail shower at about 16:00. Quite a surprise! Glass still rising slowly, 29.5" this morning. Dry, cool and calm outside. Sunny day and then a frost?

Image

A strange phenomenon photographed at sunset on 12th April 2012 in Somerset. It's a genuine photo with no after-processing and taken on my Canon G11 from an upstairs window. It shows a cloud front photographed looking south-east as the sun was setting in the north-west, i.e. with my back to the sunset. The red colour along the sharp-edged cloud front is reflecting from the red sunset.

I've seen that as well Tiz in various parts of the world. Dry and calm this morning, glass tending to rise and just above 29.5". I see we are being promised an Arctic blast!

Jack and I have just had our walk round Barlick and it's a beautiful clear, sunny and sharp morning with a slight grass frost. If it stays like this I suspect there will be a sharper frost tonight. Bad news for pushy gardeners who have been buying bedding plants too early!

Just had a few days in Heysham, the weather has been lovely apart from a few light showers early yesterday morning. It was very hot yesterday afternoon. It was quite odd there were heavy showers over Lancaster in the afternoon and thick black clouds heading to the sea, before they arrived the wind changed and they went back. Frosty this morning and much colder.

Yesterday didn't live up to its promise, it turned dull and drizzly but cleared up in the evening. Cold, calm, dry morning with glass almost on 30". Should be a clear cold day with some sun but we'd better wait and see.

Moh, the better the day the better the deed! Yesterday was bright early on but got dull as the day wore on but no rain and a good day. Dry, calm and frosty at the moment. Glass is still tending to rise at just over 30" but there is a low coming in and after a frost tonight we are promised wall to wall rain tomorrow. General outlook for the week is cool and showery, in other words, April weather!

Same here Moh but Jack and I managed two dry walks. It started raining later and continued overnight, still quite heavy rain as I write, Jack and I will be having a short, wet walk this morning! Glass is steady at just below 29.2". The good thing is that the rapid fall yesterday suggests that the low pressure is fast moving and the forecast is that the rain will stop later this morning and be followed by heavy blustery showers with perhaps occasional thunder. Big change but perhaps the last fling of wintry weather. However, umbrella weather for the rest of the week.
Update at 8am, it's stopped raining and brightened up! Good!

It must have rained heavily during the night it has topped up our pond, also the wind blew a bucket right down the drive and the lid off our recycling box.

The heavy rain moderated to showers and sunny intervals. Glass has tumbled again to 28.7". Dry outside and no frost. God knows what we will get! Some wind?
