Re: Wildlife Corner
Do you remember the pic that Doc posted of the owl shape on his window after the owl flew into it? (I think it was Doc..... )

Re: Wildlife Corner
We have large windows and it's not uncommon for us to find a bird that has crashed into them, from sparrows to pigeons. Some die of a broken neck, others go away with a sore head. This morning there was a dead jackdaw on the patio. It was lying with its wings folded neatly along its body and its legs drawn up below. I administered the last rights and gave it a decent burial under the pine tree!

Re: Wildlife Corner
I had a large owl hit the windscreen of the tanker early one morning near Leeds. It was a hell of a thump but I think it survived.

Re: Wildlife Corner
The Jackdaws are nesting again this year in the Pigeon Club loft. They did this last year when the same louvre jammed open but in the middle of the nesting season it dropped. I hope they have better luck this year.....

Our swallows have turned up, there are 2 diving in and out of the barn this morning.
Re: Wildlife Corner
They allowed free range hens back onto the range last week down here. Is that a local ruling or are the all allowed out again? It was just getting to the stage where they could not describe the eggs as 'free range' and would lose the premium. I hope your ladies are all scuttling about.

A photo taken from our bedroom window at 08.45 this morning showing a Little Owl sunning itself and generally loafing about. Lovely creatures!

Went for a long walk around the Morialta Falls in the Adelaide Hills today, lovely, and we spotted 2 of these little beauties.

Re: Wildlife Corner
We used to have two eucalyptus trees at the end of our Somerset garden but we never saw any of those Koalas in them!

You could always get a stuffed toy one Tize and secure it on the tree, that would create some attention

Re: Wildlife Corner
I knew a family in Minnesota who had a large illuminated full moon in the trees at the foot of their garden. They used to switch it on at night for the effect, it looked stunning!
Don't fret about Koalas Tiz. Unless very well socialised they can be nasty little buggers!

Re: Wildlife Corner
On the back road from Lancaster to Middleton someone has put a large gorilla in a tree - very effective and amusing.
Say only a little but say it well.

Here's a couple of pics of kangaroos that my daughter has just taken on one of her many nature walks. It's nice to see them in their proper environment.

Lovely pics Cathy and I agree with you. That's where animals should be, in their own environment! The wildlife in Barlick is enjoying the good weather.....

Re: Wildlife Corner
I think this comes under the heading of wild life. This cat appeared on the roof of the shed this morning and spent a lot of time peering in through the window. Not a cat I have seen before.....

Re: Wildlife Corner
No Cathy. I altered the sleeping arrangements to give me more room on the shelf and she didn't like it. I was rejected! I'm still popular for sunbathing though.....

Re: Wildlife Corner
The Jackdaws are definitely nesting in the open louvre on the gable end of the Pigeon Club. I hope it stays open till the young have fledged. The telegraph pole outside the mortuary is a very convenient perch for them before accessing the nest. Clever birds......

Re: Wildlife Corner
Here, next door's cat often goes right up their roof to the ridge line. A bit of a daredevil, I think. I wonder how many lives it has left....
